At least Lucas had some originality with the prequels. The most original idea in TFA was "so the main villain will wear a mask but the twist is he doesn't need it!!"

Because he looks even more ridiculous without it.
I was dying laughing every time they showed off his face once he took off his mask.

Fun? The whole thing just felt thrown at me with no thought or organization. I mean this was a pathetic excuse for a Star Wars movie

He hasn't made a great movie in almost 40 years.
He really has only ever made two great films. Star Wars and American Grafitti.
Now, to be fair, if you put it on a weighted scale, he still comes out way ahead of almost anyone else.

They really did set this up perfectly.
If you have any criticism of the movie at all (and if you look at it in a vacuum, it's visually stunning but the rest isn't all that great.) they'll call you a sexist or a racist or shallow and pedantic for daring to mention that the Emporer has no clothes.

Agreed. Loved the movie, but that guy just didn't fit that role at all.

I didn't even dislike the movie. I just found myself cracking up laughing at these parts that were supposed to be serious.
I was covering my mouth I was laughing so hard when Han got killed, solely because Kylo was so goofy looking and empty without the mask.
His stupid sword chopping tantrums were golden.
They should have had that guy go "you realized you just destroyed the controls for the Starkiller, right?"

I'm sorry but it seems stupid to start this movie in this time frame with no sense of what set this up. It should have started 20 years prior or a few years after Return of the Jedi. This movie makes no sense.

They had to recycle the old actors. This movie was pandering. That's it.
Instead of using the MANY well crafted stories available from the e
Expanded Universe (so much movie worthy content in that.) they stuck Leathery Leia in there.
Honestly Han was the best part of the movie though so there's that.
But these movies should have been made decades ago while the characters were still young enough to reprise their roles without looking awful.
The new cast can't sniff the Magic the old cast possessed.
Hell, even the prequels had some better actors.
Dooku, Mace Windu, Obi Wan, Jango Fett.
This movie isn't as good as the praise it's getting. If it wasn't a Star Wars film it would be getting panned.

Why am I supposed to like this movie? The only reason I knew I was watching a Star Wars movie was because it had a x-wing fighter and a stormtrooper outfit, besides that it had no feel of a Star Wars movie. I never even heard the orchestra playing music throughout the movie. I'm sorry this movie sucked at astonishing levels
