I think Rey ends up with the most raw power. Ren who was at least somewhat trained couldn't come close to cracking her. Scared the shite out of him.

I still want them to fight with lightsabers just because

But I hope they don't rehash Empire. I have faith in Rian. So I want another shock. Have Rey turn evil and have Kylo be neutral, fighting for neither side, just for himself and his own power.

I think they are going to explore the dark side of the Force.

Overall I really liked the movie, it wasn't perfect (sorry OML, you're being hyperbolic as usual) but it didn't need to be. It's a good movie that revived the franchise positively and left a lot of leeway for them to go where they need to go

Adam driver was good until he took the mask off. Totally ruined his mystic and made him a bit of a pussy. He kind of gets his arse kicked a lot by a big bad

-I thought they were joking about the bigger Death Star story line and it was a decoy, but holy crap we destroy another Death Star. Plz do something else for once

-Rey just picking up complex force moves in like 2 seconds kind of dilutes the whole mythology of Jedi.

-leia can't move her top lip anymore. George Lucas only job on this movie should've been to CGI her lip moving

But despite that

-the characters are very good and likable. Finn, Rey, and the old crew of bots and wookies have good chemistry. Also forgot Poe because he was barely in the movie

-Abrams deffinitly took notes on the complaints of the prequels and implemented them to make everyone happy

-ending was awesome

My dream would be that Disney would see the opportunity to "fix" the prequels by doing a series about the clone wars which illustrated Vader's descent into the dark. Hell you could make it a war drama and it would put their marvel properties to shame. God dammit I hate the prequels.

I really hope at the end of Episode IX Kylo and Rey become so powerful that the lightsaber itself will become pointless as they duel one another. As this movie shows, a Force user should have all matter and energy at his or her disposal, which full master of it should make a lightsaber pointless.

As long as they don't go with the weird CGI mess that was the Harry/Voldemort fight I'm down like a clown

His path is going to be so interesting after what he did.

Snoke has a lot of anger and fear to work with in both characters... Rey and Ren

He did say he wanted to finish what Vader started but Rey called him out on him needing to be stronger than Vader. I think he eventuality abandons the quest to finish what Vader started instead focusing on becoming the strongest he can be.

By perfect, I'm saying it's exactly what it needed to be. Everything that needed to be there was present, and everything that didn't need to be there was left out. It's perfectly tailored for the fans by the fans.

Here's what I'm getting out of it: Kylo Ren is how Anakin should have been at the end of Revenge of the Sith. They're dissecting the character Anakin should have been, but I think they're going in reverse. I can buy it with that.

This I can buy as well. She could see and feel what Kylo was doing to her, so she tried to do it back to him and succeeded. I think it's a pretty safe bet she's Luke's bastard daughter, so the fact that she could pick up on this isn't much of a stretch.

One of the best closing shots I can think of.

I don't think there was anything complex about it. We just saw her raw power.

and, why wouldn't the new Republic have an army just because the old one didn't. Especially if the Empire still exists trying to take it down. How do we know this republic looks anything like the last one. And, the UN does have an armed force that includes tanks.

Just settling down with some initial thoughts...a perfect restart to the franchise. They captured the heart and character and soul of the originals.

The humor was back and it wasn't slapstick...it was real and it didn't slow things down.

Daisy Ridley killed it. Great performance.

Adam driver was really really good. Tough part to pull off and I believe they are setting him up to be the main focal point with ridley going forward. He will grow in power.

Han solo was back. He was the Han we grew to love but older and hardened by the pains and lessons of life. Appropriate.

The ending...effing nailed it. The Jedi steps were awesome...it was the only piece of new music that was really memorable but it was incredible.

The reveal of Luke and the anguish of his face...the closing shot....wow.

They left me hanging on the edge. I'm ready to see where it goes next.

They make note that the Republic has an army and won't be there to help the Resistance. I think they're allies and not the same nation. Basically the Resistance and the First Order are located in the same region of space and are constantly warring, while the Republic is mostly well protected, at least until it seems Coruscant was seemingly destroyed.

It took luke 3 movies to do some of the moves she was pulling off. Acquired traits don't pass down generations last I checked

Was it just me or was Kylo, despite not being trained fully, still really powerful with the force?

I mean he stopped a blaster rifle shot in mid air and held it there so, yeah, he skrong.

She pulled off pretty much every Jedi move we've seen to date like 20 minutes after finding out she had anything to do with the force: if those aren't complex moves, then Ben kenobi and sky walker were overrating the hell out of their mentors
