Agreed. It was way too rushed, and just lame to include yet another death star. That and the gangsters after Han scenes were my biggest issues with the film. I really enjoyed it, but it's a very flawed film. It's ok to admit that.

Already had forgotten the gangsters existed and it's been less than 24 hours since viewing.

not only gangsters, but CGI super monsters

other than using the 3 word summary (lack of gravitas), a more visceral way to explain my problems can be summed up as follows:
how much goddamn running away from bad guys was in this movie?
how much goddamn running away from bad guys was in this movie?

Why are the people who didn't like the movie spending so much time telling us why they didn't like it?
I hated Memento, the board loves it, people have different opinions. But please, go ahead and make 100 more post telling us how stale the movie was.

overwhelming group or emotional thinking on one side of a discussion often breeds this type of response

A hell of a welcome change compared to what we got in the prequels, where there is no threat whatsoever except for other Sith.

Plenty of posters have answered that question... "what would you have liked to see instead?" It's not that dumb.

Because they crave attention yet have no real friends to talk to. Big shock.

also i hope finn is mute in the next 2 movies. if he's alive, they can at least make him a mute to avoid his character's stupidity
Finn is not a good character. Everything surrounding his character seems contrived.

He's the worst charter in the franchise save Jar Jar. Just pure laziness. It's actually upsetting because he could be so much more but instead we get this guy with no depth or purpose who apparently will play an important role in the trilogy.

quote:Only 2 out of the 6 before had any gravitas, and that was primarily fleshing out the Force and the eternal conflict between the dark and light. Well everybody knows all of that stuff now. I'm just not sure how many themes there are left to explore. It's Star Wars. But it does look like Luke may be back in the game and there are some decent villains. I think this was a pretty good jump-off with a lot of possibilities opened up for VIII and IV.
this movie lacked gravitas.

how to incorporate the jedis back into society in the face of open rebellion by imperial loyalists who worship the dark side?
