I'm pretty sure half this thread is SlowFlowPro telling us how bad this movie is.
It's like people that did not enjoy the movie do not want anyone else to enjoy it either

No. That would be blueboy.
SFP is a late comer to the game although I fully expected we would see him.

i mean should we rename this thread to "Star Wars: TFA - Official Praise Thread" ?
should i just lie about how much i enjoyed the movie?
what do you prefer?

I meant everybody as in the viewers. Hopefully we don't get another film of the master explaining the force to his protégé. Rey should be studying that shite right now so that when we see her next she's good to go.

He's the worst charter in the franchise save Jar Jar. Just pure laziness. It's actually upsetting because he could be so much more but instead we get this guy with no depth or purpose who apparently will play an important role in the trilogy.
Finn was a red herring for Rey being the true protagonist. And I really don't see why it's so unbelievable that a single Stormtrooper abandoned his post after having to massacre an innocent village. It definitely makes up for one of the biggest frick ups in the prequels by making the Stormtroopers clones. I liked Finn's character and have no issue with any of his actions in the movie. He's certainly not worse than Qui Gon or adult Anakin.

Pretty much. It's like they can't acknowledge the blatantly obvious diversity moves.
C'mon, Captain Phasma?
Definitely not pandering there.
Just because people are calling out bullshite in your sacred cow doesn't mean that they don't still like the cow

why? that's the main conflict of this entire universe and we have a new generation to display that conflict
the development of kylo and reyson bourne within the context of the force will be the central conflict of this trilogy i'd imagine

Of course not.

At least you aren't going full blueboy who has gone all in on seeking out validation and vindication of his opinion.

A day after seeing the movie, there's a lot to digest overall. I grew up seeing the original trilogy in the theaters, and my son is a college kid who grew up with all the extra stuff (games, etc), so we have different perspectives.
One thing we agreed on was the fate of Han Solo.
I thought he deserved a more heroic death, one of his own choice (I thought when he decided Chewie goes up and he goes down to plant the bombs, that he was going to have to stay behind and detonate them himself, sort of like Bruce Willis in Armageddon). He could be cornered and the ginger general could be gloating, Han could decide how he was going out, we could have a quick flash to Leia Force-feeling what he was about to do, and then a little smile and "see you in hell" - BOOM.
My son was angered and insulted that his great hero was killed by his previously unknown, emo son and tossed overboard like a piece of garbage; and I think he was also just pissed that Solo died at all.

Because it's never happened before, and inexplicably the only black stormtrooper in the entire galaxy is the one that did it?
Oh, totally plausible, even in this universe.

that's one small part of it
how many stormtroopers would be sassy with all these witty comebacks and be so super energetic and all that given that context? none
it also doesn't explain why he's such an expert on so many aspects of the death star 3
he's literally just a device to move the plot forward and it makes no goddamn sense when you look at his character in totality

I acknowledge them and I don't care. Movies are about making money. Star Wars goes for mass appeal. It doesn't ruin my day that a character is black or female or Asian like it does for some.

Oh and AMC's IMAX Digital is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Cinemark Xtreme Digital.
The only thing that drives me insane about AMC is their metric ton of commercials about their own theater chain. I will always go with another theater chain over AMC if it's practical just to not have to watch those excruciating commercials and PSAs. Im already in the theater and you have my money, so stop trying to sell me more shite if you actually want me to come back.

Which IMO is what made his death more gut wrenching.

No. It's called I am a grown arse man that can do whatever the frick I want with my time and money.

I would actually really like to see Luke train Rey in the next movie and for it to take off the second TFA left us. While all that's going on, show Ren's training in the Dark Side with Snoke, to where it will be a parallel story of both their spiritual journeys.
I'd really like a sequence very similar to this, with Rey receiving the light equivalent of fully opening up her Force powers, with Ren going through its dark equivalent: Chakras

Finn's conversion is actually a bit more involved - it occurs specifically after he witnesses his friend's death.
The most interesting aspect? It was the shot from Poe's blaster that killed Finn's friend, which ultimately served as the impetus for Finn's "awakening".

Captain Phasma was pandering, but not to women. It was so kids would buy millions of dollars worth of toys with her face on them. I was very disappointed in her character.
