JJ also said Snoke is a new character to the universe

Not sure who Snoke will end up being but I still think that Rey will be Ben's sister and this story will be based loosely on the story of Jacen and Jaina Solo.

I would love to see Snoke as a Supreme Leader of the Vong.

I think they said she was forced sensitive

Kind of got the feeling she was using it when "looking into the eyes" of the characters

She said something to the effect of "I'm no Jedi, but I know the force". I did not take that as she knew how to use the force, but that she has a knowledge of it.

The whole looking into eyes this she explained was because she was so old, she had seen those eyes many times before.

I think she could use the force a little bit.

Eh, I think it is more likely they are cousins. Her whole interaction between Han, Leia, and Ren should have been different if they were all one family. I think Maz would have been able to know too that she was Han's daughter.

This is a theory I've actually played around with too. I'd be fine with this (Snoke is ugly enough to be one ). There was a theory I read a while back that Palpatine's true reasoning behind the deathstar and bringing around the Empire was he had foreseen the future invasion of the Vong, and knew this was the only way to prepare the Galaxy for it.

From that deleted scenes link posted on the previous page:

quote:

Maz Uses Force Powers to Stop Stormtroopers
In the original script, Maz Kanata had Force powers. After the First Order begins their attack on the castle, Maz used her Force powers to cause the ceiling to cave in on a group of stormtroopers that had them cornered. In the sequence, Han Solo was forced to stall the stormtroopers to allow Maz to concentrate. There was a funny back and forth between him and the trooper. Han runs out of things to say so he rats out Finn, revealing that he recognized Finn’s stormtrooper boots — this is how he knew he wasn’t Resistance.

I don't think she could move stuff with her mind, but I think she could pick up a few things about what people are thinking.

Oh that's interesting. Wonder if they took it out to eliminate her as a force sensitive or what? I know they don't plan on her having a big role going forward, but who knows.

The bringing balance to the force thing is the second worst idea lucas ever had next to midiclorians.

It was executed very poorly, and explained even worse, but the idea itself wasn't bad.

They said her role was massively cut because the actress was struggling.

She 100% knows his face when he turns around and she cries.

He's definitely her father. She just didn't know he was luke when she last saw his face years ago.

Heres one of the deleted scenes. Snoke speaking:
quote:

“Kylo Ren, I watched the Galactic Empire rise, and then fall. The gullible prattle on about the triumph of truth and justice, of individualism and free will. As if such things were solid and real instead of simple subjective judgments. The historians have it all wrong. It was neither poor strategy nor arrogance that brought down the Empire. You know too well what did.” Ren nodded once. “Sentiment.” “Yes. Such a simple thing. Such a foolish error of judgment. A momentary lapse in an otherwise exemplary life. Had Lord Vader not succumbed to emotion at the crucial moment—had the father killed the son—the Empire would have prevailed. And .”

"I watched the Galactic Empire rise, and then fall" - Cant be a 'new' life form, has to be somebody associated with Sith or Jedi

"Had Lord Vader not succumbed" - recognizing his Lordship certainly leads one to believe that Snoke is of the Sith persuasion. Those outside the Empire didn't recognize his Lordship. He was referred to as Darth

"had the father killed the son" - pretty much confirms that Snoke is not Palpatine. It was Palpatine that was killing Luke, not Vader, when Vader got sentimental. And when Vader cut off Lukes hand, it was Luke who chose to fall, not Vader allowing him to escape

"there would be no threat of Skywalker’s return today" - That is the theme of this trilogy. Luke has become the most powerful being in the universe. His return would thwart any attempt at domination. He must be found, and dispatched before Plagueis attempts his rebirth

Just because he has seen it all doesn't mean he HAS to be associated with the jedi or sith.

Maz says something similar as to what she has seen and she sent jedi nor sith

Interesting passage to say the least.

I'm still going with the unknown apprentice theory... Snoke was an apprentice under either Palpatine or Vader when they were both killed and now he is the master. He's been in hiding while his powers grow stronger and while he was seeking an apprentice (Kylo Ren).

Bingo.

Not going to lie, I'm kind of liking the Vong theory.

Just got back from second viewing. Couple of observations...

Hyperspace is light speed. It's said too often. There is acceleration, both positive and negative. Sure, there's huge problems, but this is fantasy-we all just have to get over it.

There are still clones. Dork leader II specifically mentions a clone army.

As a 48 year old who has always loved IV enough for it to be my all time favorite movie, i was hit emotionally three times. The opening, the end scene, and what is clearly now my favorite moment of all: the light saber flipping past Emo Ren into Rey's hands. I hear the Luke music, and I almost lost it.

Yes there are, but even in the OT they were being phased out because they were too costly to keep the facilities going. I think by ROTJ, the 501st was the only remaining pure clone division.
