Honestly, this movie is only a few things away from being very good. And those few things really aren't enormous changes - besides completely getting rid of Rose. You can't say that about the Prequels

No, Rose wasn’t the Jar Jar in this movie: it was BB-8. Just everything he did was annoying in this and way over the top. Was there anything remotely subtle with BB-8 in this movie?
And thinking it through, why did they bring him at all? Sure it worked out in comedic non-funny ways, but it sucked.

There’s great things in this movie that work completely... but then it just undermines itself with bullshite. I don’t know how this got past a script supervisor’s desk.
“Hey the stuff with Rey and Kylo, this stuff it’s great, keep it up here, but what’s with the other half of the script being just garbage that does nothing for the overall plot? Cut almost all of it, and make it a minor point. Double down on Rey and especially Kylo Ren... also didn’t we have a cliffhanger in the last film of Kylo finishing his Dark Side training? Yet we only have 2 scenes with Snoke? Write some of those scenes.”
If they just stayed centrally focused at almost all times on Rey and Kylo Ren, then the movie would be fantastic.

This was not the Star Wars movie I wanted. And in some way I think that may be what they were going for, and I think I'm ok with thay. My Star Wars will always be the original trilogy. This trilogy is for and about the new generation entering Star Wars. Our story is done, just like Luke, Han, and our princess. The story is now our kids and the new characters they will grow up with. I think its about passing the torch in a galaxy far, far away, as well as the one we are in. I see my kids watching these new movies with their kids with the same excitement I showed the original to mine. Doesnt mean I liked this one though.

Maybe it's because I was still a kid and I was finally seeing what I spent my whole childhood dreaming about in Anakin's turn to the dark side, but the preqeuls always have a place in my heart.

Wonder if they are saving space for a snoke film and purposely didn't give anything so they have a clean slate to work with.
