Revenge of the sith had the fight I'd been waiting so long to see. Even if the "I hate you" was cringy as frick.

This. Right here. BB-8 was way worse than Rose for me.

BB8 piloting the AT-AT made me shake my head.

I kind of feel bad for R2D2 though. BB8 is doing all the things and R2 almost feels relegated to a droid retirement home.

Really feel like I didn't watch the same move as some of you .

I enjoyed it. Wasn't perfect. Had some issues. But it carried some emotional weight.

And its amazing to me that some of you believe Ren telling Rey that she came from junkers at a point in time he's trying to manipulate her into joining him because she came from nothing and now can be part of something.

My two main gripes -

I had no problems at all with Luke being a broken man for most of the movie and his actions - but his death was pretty stupid and pointless.

I didn't like Akbar going out like that - iconic character deserved more. And didn't like Laura Dern's character showing up - but I guess you need someone who doesn't know Poe so that he can try to come up with a plan. But the whole thing could have been done via Akbar.

Because he says she knows too and she doesn't act surprised. It's unclear if he's just saying what she thinks or if he knows for sure. It's silly to think it's definitive either way.

I get that they were going for a Yoda death but it should have been an Obi-Wan death. Take the exact same scene but at the end, have Luke drop his light Saber, close is eyes, and take Ren's cut to the chest while Rey leads the escape.

You could have simply gotten rid of Dern and given her entire arc to Akbar

Then people would just cry that the "most badass Jedi ever" died like a bitch.

I think you can justify Luke being the way he is like this: Yoda was so wise and calm when he was with the Jedi order, but once he lost everything and was a hermit for a while, he became crazy and loony. It isn't so crazy to think that Luke would go through what he did (having one of his apprentices kill most of the rest, burn the academy and dip to be evil) and decide to go into hiding and give up the force.

In reality everyone should have expected that part. If he was just ready to pop right back into being a hero he would have been with the resistance the whole time anyway and not hiding.

Original Akbar actor died last year, I think they didn't wanna do that to him. Could be wrong though.

We're also still kinda in that stage where the aliens CGI doesn't look good enough to get a lot of screen time, but the puppet head is still too bad.

that's how I felt about the last movie

this one...wasn't perfect, but wasn't even good. had nothing but issues. even if the plot structure wasn't a mess, it still has enough there to break the movie.

Because thats what she fears is the truth. So when he says it, it confirms her fear, not the truth. Thats manipulation.

Could it be true? Sure. But I'm 99% sure its not the truth.

The problem with killing Luke is that his mission went unfulfilled. Imagine a sequel trilogy where Luke had successfully trained a small batch of Jedi knights who fought the First Order. Luke could still die in Episode 8 by sacrificing himself to save his students. Someone like Rey could take over as the new leader, but he still died having completed his mission.

Albeit in a moment of peace and clarity, Luke died a broken old man who had failed to restore the Jedi Order to the galaxy.

This is how it should be though! It’s a new trilogy with new characters. Take a back seat

I saw this on reddit and it kinda spoke to me:
quote:

Take this away from the Luke/Yoda scene: yeah, the new trilogy is different than the originals. But that's what happens with all things - it changes, and it changes for the new generation, not the old one. So if you hated this movie because it isn't the originals - it's time you burn down that withered old tree you try so hard to find meaning for.

Yes and no. He came back to the force in a huge way and saved any hope for the resistance and the jedi order.
