I'm sure this thread will be 60% complaining about CBS All Access. However, if anyone has any opinions of the show, I'd like to hear them.

The reviews seem to be generally positive.

This show is tied to STD. Therefore it’s dead on arrival. Will not be watching.

If people don't have something to complain about, they have nothing to live for. And it only took 1 post for someone to bring up the SJW's.

I haven't watched the episode yet but as a Star Trek fan it's hard to deny that they've always been progressive for whatever era they're in.

Female captains and admirals, androgynous/non-gendered species, multiculturalism, etc.

Hell didn't the original Star Trek have the first ever interracial kiss in TV history? If this board existed back then it would have exploded.

Maybe Picard is more on the nose about it maybe it's not. But maybe people are too busy looking to find an "SJW agenda" that they see it everywhere they go, even when it's not there.

These bitches are just as weak as the sjw's they sky scream about. Opposite end of the same rope.

Just finished episode 1. If people are really going to play the "SJW" card on this, then they are completely wrong.

They also kept the "fan service" to a minimum in the first episode, which I appreciate.

So the same as Roddenberry's original concept.

The YouTube nerds are hating it.

The fact that Alex Kurtzman keeps getting big jobs is a testament to Hollywood's incestuous dedication to producing crap.

And Stewart looks terrible in ads I've seen lately. Like, near death. This series actually has a chance to be the almost exact realization of another Simpsons prediction.

There's a huge difference how Roddenberry handled social issues. He would cleverly insert social issues in a way that didn't take away from the intent of the show. "The Mark of Gidden" episode for example, was a great episode about birth control but this issue was not jammed down your throat. They told a good story so each person could make up their own mind...Now a days, SJW issues are jammed down your throat and they wrap a story around it.

I cancelled CBS because of STD. It was an abomination of Star Trek. Also, the JJ Trek Universe has screwed up the canon so bad that I'm going to wait to see what other people are saying before I consider watching Picard.

Picard has absolutely nothing to do with the JJ Star Trek timeline. It makes that clear in episode 1.

The destruction of Romulus is part of that reboot. I just hope the don't bring those re-imagined Klingons

Right, but there isn't an alternate timeline.

Or, to quote their own fluff article PR.
quote:

“The Next Generation” presented a humanist future in which issues like poverty, race and class have long been sorted out, and conflicts are more often resolved through negotiation and problem-solving than at the point of a phaser pistol

Stewart had no desire to go there again.

“I think what we’re trying to say is important,” he says. “The world of ‘Next Generation’ doesn’t exist anymore. It’s different. Nothing is really safe. Nothing is really secure.”
= blase woke crap.

Add to that the fact that they want to maximize their profits by making Trek an expanded universe like Marvel, and this has zero appeal to me. Some people will obviously line up to consume anything, though.

If you accept the JJ Trek Reboot then yes. It is what it is.
