f you accept the JJ Trek Reboot then yes. It is what it is.

What exactly is the issue with the destruction of Romulus as part of Picard? Is there some fan fiction book where Romulus is a central part of the story?

Picard has absolutely nothing to do with the JJ Star Trek timeline. It makes that clear in episode 1.

Thank you. The whole damn series appears to based on the events of the destruction of Romulus and how the Federation handled that.

Yeah...It's in there.

Then don't watch it.

I just hope yall don't clog up any potential future discussions on the actual episodes.

I'm getting what I need to know from the CBS After show recap hosted by Wesley Crusher:

SPOILERS IN THIS LINK

Look, I'm pulling for any future Star Treks to be successful. I just don't want to see the current show runners to drift so far away from the core things that has kept Star Trek around for over 50 years. The show can change with the times without destroying certain core values.

There's a huge difference how Roddenberry handled social issues. He would cleverly insert social issues in a way that didn't take away from the intent of the show.

He literally painted characters half-black and half-white while discussing racism. These were not subtle messages.

That makes no sense. The destruction of Romulus is in a completely different timeline.

This is supposed to be released on Amazon Prime within 24 hours after CBS based on a contact that they have.

The first of the series' 10 episodes will be streaming on CBS All Access from Thursday, January 22, with the premiere then airing the following day on Amazon Prime Video.

Honestly, the core problem is that JJ irreparably fricked the entire franchise with his hackneyed time travel formula.

I was on this board posting in the review threads when the first JJ movie came out. I actually enjoyed the movie, but also remarked that the time travel aspect would screw all future projects. I said they were all patting themselves on the back about how they could now recycle old characters and worlds and make them do whatever they wanted because - timeline. The two subsequent movies proved that point.

Now that it seems the rest of the franchise is falling in line, they're just going to retcon and rework everything, their closest simulation for actual, creative thought. With a side dish of wokeness.

I'm definitely watching this because of Patrick Stewart, but the best thing I've heard so far is "not as bad as Discovery."

Jury is out for me. I really want to see more Jean Luc Picard, but "tackling Trump and Brexit?" No thanks.

Well that's literally false. It's part of the same universe because of an actual licensing issue between two separate companies

Picard is part of the new timeline becuase CBS doesnt own the rights to the original one

According to Patrick Stewart that's exactly and very intentionally what the show is aiming to do

No it isn't.

The destruction of Romulus happened in the original timeline.

Then Spock and Nero went back in time where Nero killed Kirk's dad and set off the alternate timeline that we saw in the Chris Pine movies. This show doesn't take place in that alternate timeline. It takes place in the original timeline where Romulus is destroyed.

Kelvin (CBS owned) timeline confirmed

As Kurtzman told GamesRadar: "[Picard is] in the Prime timeline, we're not in the Kelvin timeline. But the thing that was interesting about that movie is it was the one element of the film that's still in the Prime timeline, because it was the supernova, the destruction of Romulus, and Spock's jump [back in time] that created Kelvin."

Depending on how you look at it, we both win and we both lose.

You just said it had "nothing to do" with that timeline. I showed you that it did. How are you winning?

B/c even after you posted that article, I'm partly right. And you're partly right.

It isn't that hard to figure out.

So, did Picard go back to the Baku planet from Insurrection to finally get with the 300 year old cougar?

You still have to have a CBS all access membership to watch it there.
