Finished tonight - spoilers below...

VP scenes and dialogue made the entire show worse
The baby being a participant was beyond dumb
Cate Blanchett in the end made me want to puke - I hope they don't make an American version

Seems like the intention of the last six episodes was simply to end the series. It didn't have to make sense, and so much of it didn't, as long as a conclusion was reached.

Who was the family at the airport at the end? Also 456 family? He had two kids?

It was the 3rd place contestant’s son who 456 left with his best friend’s (2nd place) mom at the end of S1.

If you remember he left a luggage bag full of cash and the kid with the mom who had the roadside food place.

That was the kid meeting his maternal grandma (the private detective found her).

Hope that makes sense

It’s quite clear the writer and showrunner wanted to end it after the first or second season. Can’t help but feeling he had season 1 ending with GiHun getting on the plane but Netflix said nah, leave it open ended in case we want to do another and had to change it.

I can’t blame him for chasing the money, either. I don’t think he or the cast were given a lot of $$$ for the first season but after the success of the first season they got PAID for the second season and even then it felt like he wanted to end it there but Netflix stepped in again and made them do a third season + set up the American version. I would probably sacrifice my artistic integrity for life changing money too that he likely got for making S2&3. shite might even be generational money he can leave behind for grandkids too

Started last night but fell asleep 10 minutes in because of reading subtitles. Reading subtitles works better than any sleeping pill ever could for me. As much as I hate to do it I'm probably going to have to watch with it dubbed in English so I can stay awake.

what the hell was this about? They were awful. Reminded me of sketch comedy acting.

It has already been announced. David Fincher is involved.

Just finished episode two. Hide and seek was kind of diabolical but had some dumb moments. Ol girl just having a baby right in the middle of it

The mom and son ending was a gut punch though. That was brutal.

Terrible season. VIPs were terrible. Baby angle was dumb. I was hoping we would have gotten co formation on the connection with f the Front man, the old guy and 456.

Yeah, S3 made no difference at all. Detective Hwang was a completely wasted character. And they didn’t explain at all why the front man stays in the games or the connections with Gi-Hun and number 1 from the first game. And now they are milking it for another season in LA… I definitely enjoyed a lot of stuff with Squid Game but they really don’t know how to write an ending let alone an overarching plot. Too many plot holes they failed to cover.

I mean the show in it's nature is outlandish, so I didn't mind the cheesy spectators/bettors.

But damn this show hits you in the feels.

I like that the baby, and the daughter ended up with the money.

I think an American version could be great, we shall see.

Finished the season over the weekend. Definitely the weakest season and the final game was just awful. When they were on the second peg and they were all tying their shirts together trying to dupe Gi-hun I was like wtf is going on right now

Hide and seek and jump rope were both really good though.

I do agree with the other poster that this show does get you in your feels a little bit. I mentioned in the season two thread that the mom reminded me off my mom who passed away 3 years ago in some ways. So I was holding out hope she'd make it but when she hung herself that was a gut punch. Then the young mom just having to fall off the edge with her baby on the other side was tough.

I felt like the most wasted time was on the girl pretending to be a worker and trying to save the other contestant. Impossible to remember these peoples names But it was a useless story.

Entertaining season but just not on the level of season one and probably not close to season two either.

Force watched 2 and Im basically fast forwarding through most of the episodes in 3 so far. Boring arse show. 10 minute scenes on vote casting... as if anyone would ever believe the Xes would win a vote and end the game. The obvious planted player that no one catches on to. The stupidity of the s2 finale where he's not cool with killing the Os because its senseless killing, but is fine with hiding while the Xes get murdered. That's necessary. The worst detective in the world who can't find the island but we have to call him detective every time hes on sceeen. Bad. Just bad.

If you hate the show and are fast forwarding through most of the scenes, why are you watching it? There's so much good TV out there, no sense in watching something you hate.

Because season 1 was good. The rest of the show sucked

I personally liked season 2 ok. Outside of the tranny being a full blown bad arse seal team 6 or whatever he was, but the games were very good in season 2 even without the shock value you got from season 1.

Season 3 had it moments but overall just wasn't written very well.

I will be all in if David Fincher does an american version though.
