My next biggest plot hole is how in the world do these people not unanimously vote to GTFO after red light green light every time. They have a sense of how dangerous it is and if they do the math in their head should realize only 1 of them is getting out alive. But it may be something cultural in terms of being in debt and hopeless over there.
Most people when faced with a real possibility of death would vote to get out. That said, I don't think most of the players are thinking they will be the last man standing. Rather, they realize that with each game, the pot increases and the number to split it decreases. Most of them have a number in mind. Unfortunately, the vote has not changed as much as it should have because of this understanding.
This was a semi frustrating thing to me as well. Like come on, gtfo of there.
I know it's not life or death obviously but there is this new game show on Amazon called Beast Games. 5 million dollar grand prize and starts with like 1000 contestants. It's almost like a mini case study for how much people will turn down for a chance to win more. At one point four contestants turned down 1 million bucks to keep going in the game when there was still 100 or so contestants left. So you turn down a guaranteed million bucks just for the possibility for a few million more but you still have to beat out 100 more people. One of the guys that turned the money down was a guy that lived out of his car. He obviously needed that money, but greed kept pushing him for more. I wanted to slap these idiots. What do you know, that guy was eliminated in the next game and went home with nothing. Legit made me change how I felt about Squid Games.

Right and why would they change it much since as far as he knows, only 1 person survives and no one besides himself would ever consider coming back.
The rich people watching/gambling would probably complain if it were the same games every year.

Just finished S2. I enjoyed it, however, Thanos was annoying as all get out.

1) The setup was that most of the hardcore O people were in so much debt that they wouldn't win enough after round 1 or 2 to pay it off.
2) Many people weren't just in normal debt (credit cards, auto loan, etc.), but in debt to organized crime and they would be hurt or killed if they couldn't pay it off in full, so why leave if you (or your family) may die without the money.
3) I believe the hardcore drug/alcohol addicts get eliminated relatively fast leaving those with gambling or other similar problems, if that's your vice you always think you will win big on the next roll, hand, pull....or game.
4) The love of money is the root of all evil.

i didn't read past page one, don't want any spoilers, but general consensus ....does this hold up to season 1 and worth watch?

I just finished S2. I thought it was solid, though the army ranger shite at the end was stupid.

Thanos was the man
The only character in recent memory I can recall hating more than this guy was the old man from this season as well

I've seen some theories on this guy that are interesting

This was my thought. That aspect was very reminiscent of the Capital folks in the Hunger Games movies.

Just glad they didn't have any of the gamblers in this season. On the rewatch that was by far the worst part of season 1. Every single thing they said was just cringeworthy. And those stupid masks they wore.

I will probably cheer when he dies in season 3. Holy shite he was annoying.

I don’t get how people are so confused they keep playing when most of episode 1 of season two was dedicated to them finding people who’d gambling over food

I'm only 1 episode in so far. So ignore me cuz I'm sure everyone else has watched everything so far.
But it's really intrigued to see what the heck is Gi-hun's plan exactly. I know he's going to enter again from the trailers Does he plan on ending the games by entering and trying to win again? If so, that makes zero sense.
But maybe he's just a mentally broken man with nothing to live for that feels like he should be dead. So maybe, none of his moves this season will make sense. Because what's the point of even playing a stupid russian roulette game. Just unload the damn thing on the guy.

Yes but none of the contestants know they even exist. It’s obvious to you watching the show they would change the games but someone who has been in the games wouldn’t have any reason to believe this

Keep watching bud. He doesn’t enter the games willingly

It's not like the contestants are the pillars of society. They're all degenerate gamblers, social media influencers and folks who are otherwise up to their eyeballs in debt to the mob and worse.

social media influencers
That would even raise even more eyeballs if they all of a sudden went missing. If a social media influencer with $100,000+ followers went missing, you doggone right that will be huge. If a rapper who's popular enough to have girls fawn over him went missing, that isn't something that will be overlooked.
Beyond that, we've seen in the games everyone isn't like that. There's a lot of normal people here who are desperately just trying to get home to their families and provide a better life for them. You don't think these families would be raising alarms all over trying to find their loved one.
It's a great show and I'm fine looking past it to enjoy the show. But there's no part of 400+ people going missing and it's totally normal that sounds feasible in real life.

This season was absolutely a gambler's dream. Why cash out when you could potentially double your earnings by playing another round. One more game! You survived the next round, obviously luck is on your side, so you keep on playing. You barely survived, but you have an opportunity to be richer than you ever even imagined? You've come too far to turn around now.
Watching people continually vote against their best interest for the miniscule chance they survive and become rich is a good look into how these folks became $100,000+ in debt to begin with. To be that far in debt means you have likely made bad decision after bad decision after bad decision in life. Those bad decisions only continued in the games.
I would love to be rich. But I know for a fact there's 0% chance I would continue after RLGL. Even if it was guaranteed I would become a millionaire just by playing 1 more game.

Agree about Thanos. He probably was my favorite character.

Someone is going to have to explain player 001 to me. Not that I’m surprised one of the bad guys is in the game, but they really planted him there, let them have a rebellion, almost succeed, then he turns?
His arch makes no sense, are we supposed to believe the game creators predicted this outcome?
