Spinoff: Cancelled shows you can't believe weren't picked up by another network

Prompted by the Last Man on Earth thread.
I nominate Trial & Error, a WB production that aired on NBC. It was a mockumentary sitcom parodying true crime documentaries in a limited series format. The cast was good and the guest stars (John Lithgow S1, Kristin Chenoweth S2) put it over the top.
After NBC declined the S3 option, it got shopped but not picked up. Would have been a perfect fit for Netflix, still can't believe they passed.

I wish the streaming thing had been more of a thing when Almost Human aired.
That should have been a great show with Karl Urban. Fox strikes again.

If it had been cancelled today, I promise you Firefly would be picked up by Netflix or HBO.

Arrested Development. Glad it's on Netflix but the seasons Netflix made were atrocious x years after it was pulled

Not that I can't believe it, because it came out when networks were busy cancelling shows left and right, but American Gothic back in the 90s was stellar programming that would be beloved today.

Traffic Light on Fox was good.

Firefly was too good for Fox. Fox loves it’s Sunday NFL and MLB packages, for good reason, but so much so that they often preempt their lineups if games run late. Really unfair to new shows without established audiences.
Firefly would have thrived on WB back in 2002.

Larry King never understood why Seinfeld didn’t get picked up after it got canceled by NBC.

Swingtown on CBS should've been an HBO series
Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23 was seriously under the radar, IMO.
Emergence on ABC screams Fox, but no dice, unfortuately.

Off the top of my head, besides a few already mentioned:

The Adam West Batman ABC series was still getting decent ratings and NBC was about to sign a deal to broadcast the next season. But Dozier had neglected to tell the production company that he was trying to make a deal and they had already destroyed hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of Batcave and other sets. NBC wasn't going to front the additional production costs and Batman died a quick death.

Hannibal. We deserved more than 3 seasons.

I'm mostly satisfied with the 3 seasons we got. Without the ability to get the Clarice Starling character to add a new foil for Hannibal, it would have just descended into the platonic love affair between Graham and Lecter that Fuller was only hinting at in the 3 seasons we got.
