I have no idea what you’re talking about.

Maybe you’re not aware that the movie/t.v. industry is vast with many different sectors of interest.

I’m quite positive that I could talk about a movie from years ago that was hugely popular, but if I used a first letter code instead of the full name, many people would have no idea what I was talking about.

Now maybe you only are intending to speak to others who have seen this movie/series (?), but why not share the love to the posters who haven’t?

You make it sound quite intriguing and I would probably check it out if I knew what its name is.

Battlestar Galactica is one of the most popular sci-fi franchises in history and has been referred to as “BSG” by fans for decades.

OP was clearly directed at people who have actually seen the show. If you were actually interested in “checking out” the show you would have either asked or simply Googled it, rather than being a condescending douche.

Freaux said it right - It's a weird reason to come into a thread to announce that you don't know what people are talking about.

Imagine if every TD poster would jump into a thread saying they don't know what you're talking about.

We have tons of topics with title/content such as, "If Raylan did this different, etc." without much else added. If I didn't watch or love Justified, I'd have no idea.

I just suggest they just watch show. And as someone else added, The Expanse too. Both available if you have Prime for normal delivery stuff, etc.

You're not wrong. And he got her every look too. Y'all just gunna die sons.

Btw, I did make this thread less than a month ago All Sci-Fi fans — BSG (2004) is back on Prime. It's not like we haven't talked about this recently on M/TV.

To your point, the eye candy rivals the actual drama and story. It explores every avenue of survival, military, politics, race, war, religion, sex, etc. There's a reason for the fanbase.

Hey Freaux, I respect your opinion on movies. These fellas think I’m new because I don’t post a bunch, but you know I’ve been on this board longer than all but a few of you.

The fact is, people like to check into the movie/tv board for multiple reasons, including not JUST to comment on a thread topic that they are knowledgeable about, but also to learn about movies they ARE NOT familiar with, and to learn from the banter that ensues.

Also, a lot of posters aren’t that invested in the board with tons of time to waste. When I stop to sit on the pot, or have a little break, I like to check on the discussion taking place, and MAYBE drop a post or two if the mood strikes me.

I don’t have time or the desire to stop and research the potential title of every film or series that is discussed but the OP is too lazy, too dumb, and/or too selfish to simply complete his thought with a few extra key strokes so that all can enjoy his or her comments, whether they are familiar or not with the title.

This is especially true for someone who starts a topic. It’s akin to posting a blind link, albeit a lesser offense, IMO.

I hear you man, but there are lots of threads that are like:

"How about this person/actor/character... blah blah blah," and if I don't know that person I typically just move on.

Wouldn't it also be weird for the OP to be first describe BSG, then describ e the actor, then the character? Like every time we want to talk about something? I feel this was more of a "Hey this guy is super cool," not a lot of context needed if you know?

I mean, I know you don't know the character, but it would be hard, like Walter Bishop hard, to describe why he's so good. You just have to watch it to get it.

And if your point was really about "BSG," I mean that is the cultural shorthand for the show and the one before it (so sometimes you have to say BSG 2004). It's like saying TNG, DS9 or the OT. I think it's common enough nomenclature that most people know what it means.

ETA: All that to say I urge you to watch the show. It's the best Sci Fi TV Show. Period.

I’ve been holding out recently for a rewatch. I got sone things to finish up and then I’ll pull the trigger. Once I hear Bear’s drums it’s all over for me and it’s a damn commitment!

I get it - kinda what brought me back for another viewing. I just finished season 1 last night.

Back to Baltar being a villain. I’m adjusting that belief a bit. Really like the comparison to Malfoy earlier, but Baltar is just so freakin’ sleazy and selfish (and at this point in the show - you’re really not sure if he is even sane), he makes one laugh at his awfulness as well.

I’m not on the Baltar as a traditional villain initially due to his utter naivety of what is happening enhanced by his huge ego. After the attack some of the things he does to keep his secret are sleazy as hell and definitely crosses into villain territory.

I sometimes enter a thread and see an abbreviation I'm not familiar with. I will then either ask politely or exit the thread. Either way I go on with my life and don't get all pissy.
