Speaking of villains, where does Gaius Baltar rank in a list of all-time greats?

I'm re-watching BSG with my teenage son (he is watching for the first time - and frakin' loving it), and while Baltar has his moment near the end, his selfish and narcissistic attributes cause pretty much the almost-annihilation of all human life and much more throughout the series.

BTW, James Callis knocked that character out of the park - which may not have been too hard considering he got to work closely and intimately with Tricia Helfer - at the time (and still) one of the most beautiful/sexiest women in the world.

He’s like Draco Malloy in that I hate him instinctually but he’s not the true big bad.

Which stream service is it on?

I have no idea what you’re talking about.

Maybe you’re not aware that the movie/t.v. industry is vast with many different sectors of interest.

I’m quite positive that I could talk about a movie from years ago that was hugely popular, but if I used a first letter code instead of the full name, many people would have no idea what I was talking about.

Now maybe you only are intending to speak to others who have seen this movie/series (?), but why not share the love to the posters who haven’t?

You make it sound quite intriguing and I would probably check it out if I knew what its name is.

Says the actors name, no idea who that is.
Shows a gif of actor from movie/show, not a clue.
Abbreviates movie/show, still not a clue.

Still haven’t the slightest idea what OP is talking about.

WTF? You visit this board and you don’t know who that character is? Why even click in the goddamn thread and comment?

I’ve been posting on this board for over a decade without bullshite like this.

If you are too goddamn stupid to know what this thread is about then I feel sorry for you.

I don’t consider Baltar a true villain. He’s just a naive manipulating narcissist that only serves his interests. Anyone that gets damaged by him serving his interests is collateral. It’s not intentional.

He also easily could have Googled BSG or Gaius Baltar and had his answer in under 10 seconds instead of typing up a silly rant.

The actor was in all of the Brigitte Jones Diary movies, and fun fact - the woman that played Moaning Myrtle in Harry Potter was in the trilogy with him as well.

If I’m an idiot for not knowing BSG stands for battlestar galactica, then I’m ok with that.

And I have nothing against battlestar galactica, I just have zero knowledge of it at all outside of beets, bears, battlestar galactica.

Starting a thread and abbreviating a movie/show you want to talk about is stupid, especially when that show isn’t relevant at this time, or remotely popular with the majority of people at any point in its history.

Preach it. These guys are like a cult. How dare you not know exactly what they are talking about?

It's a weird reason to come into a thread to announce that you don't know what people are talking about.

And to get to the point:

I don't know if I'd ever call him the villain, he's a just a great character that ebbs and flows with the show, and most of those moments of switching perspectives are kind of core to why it works so well.

President Gaius was entertaining because he was a know it all - then he was a terrible president.

Hey Freaux, I respect your opinion on movies. These fellas think I’m new because I don’t post a bunch, but you know I’ve been on this board longer than all but a few of you.

The fact is, people like to check into the movie/tv board for multiple reasons, including not JUST to comment on a thread topic that they are knowledgeable about, but also to learn about movies they ARE NOT familiar with, and to learn from the banter that ensues.

Also, a lot of posters aren’t that invested in the board with tons of time to waste. When I stop to sit on the pot, or have a little break, I like to check on the discussion taking place, and MAYBE drop a post or two if the mood strikes me.

I don’t have time or the desire to stop and research the potential title of every film or series that is discussed but the OP is too lazy, too dumb, and/or too selfish to simply complete his thought with a few extra key strokes so that all can enjoy his or her comments, whether they are familiar or not with the title.

This is especially true for someone who starts a topic. It’s akin to posting a blind link, albeit a lesser offense, IMO.

Just fire it up and watch it. Only The Expanse can rival the coolness of it.
