Judd Nelson wouldn't even do the brat pack documentary, doubt he'll do this.
He actually did the Steel City Con with Ringwold, AMH, and Sheedy a couple months ago.
Breakfast Club Panel. Steel City Con

Is St Elmo's Fire really as beloved as the other teen/college flicks of that era?
I like it ok but nearly every character in that movie is kind of a huge a-hole. I've always thought of it as a tier 2 movie that has the benefit of having one of the most stacked casts out of all the 80s flicks that centered on young people.

No
I recently rewatched it because of another thread. It's still ientertaining.... But its such a time and place movie.
It was moderately profitable grossing 37 mil. People call it a Yuppie movie but only one character has a Yuppie job. The rest are druggies, waiters, social workers or unemployed. The movie is such a false premise for Georgetown graduates in the Reagan 80s. But following The Breakfast Club people wanted to see part of the pack back together again. But it is dated as frick....its a nostalgia flick....and we tend to be overly kind to those.

Do not want.
Why, beyond the obvious money grab, would they pursue this?

Nobody wants to see Judd Nelson and Emelio Estevez filing for Medicare.

Now, I also don't think 55-60 yr olds moping about first woeld limousine liberal problems in a melodrama is exactly a hit formula in 2024, but what the hell! It's better than lesbian space witches!
Well until they break out with their trans grand kids.

Had never seen this. Saw it on Amazon last night after seeing this thread. Movie was OK, but I can’t imagine a way to make an interesting sequel. Moving on with life after college was pretyy good solid to be tilled. Are we looking at what retirement looks like as the new transition?

Quintessential coming of age film morphs into an age hath cometh film. Sounds awful.
