Great list, I'd add Spawn and Punisher as two other butchered comic-to-film transformations.

X-Men 3

I never understood the hate for this movie. It wasn't amazing but I thought it was very good. Thought the same thing about X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Maybe I'm just an X-men fanboy and don't realize it

If you liked the movie, I'm not going to try to convince you to dislike it. That's fine and good. I was just insulted by what the movies did with characters that I recognized and appreciated growing up. "Venom" was played by Topher Grace (I hated him before Spidey 3. Emo haircut/Saturday Night Fever Spidey was bullshite. Juggernaut is not a mutant. The chars that died/"died" in X3 are unacceptable. That's just the tip of the iceberg.

Every X-Men movie other than First Class absolutely blew.

X2 was very good IMO.

The matrix sequels especially revolutions were awful.

Star Wars episode 2 is one of the worst movies ever made.

Green Lantern

Transformers 2

2004b - The Village (I haven't seen this since its opening weekend, but I remember walking out and being very pissed. A movie that I thought was going to end up in territory of Close Encounters meets Predator and it was simply confusion meets more confusion)

I think the Village was marketed wrong before it came out. If you think of it separately from the hype, the plot line was clever and enjoyable to me. This may be because I watched it for the first time about a month ago.

Dang I wish I could find my thread w/ my review of this and it being the greatest dragon action movie of all time.

Dragonslayer (1981) is sooooo much better, scarier, and action-packed and the dragons are much, much better.

I don't think they could have made Venom any worse. He is so badass in the comics and I so was pumped about finally seeing him on the big screen.

Now that I think about it, that was probably one of the single biggest disappointments in my movie watching experience.

I can do nothing but agree with you on being disappointed on all except for Reign of Fire.

Not that I think it's great, I had just seen the pictures of McConaughey on roids and assumed it would be a joke.

I know I'm going to get hated on but;

Up In The Air
Lost In Translation
Crash
Babel
The Hurt Locker
The Life Aquatic (I know, two Bill Murrays, and I like Bill Murray)
Ocean's 11,12,13 (more Clooney, and I like Clooney)

All were hyped but I found them all snoozefests.

I've actually heard nothing but bad about this movie.

I bought into the hype before seeing this movie and bought the DVD. Buyers' remorse to say the least.

2004a - Ocean's 12 (I knew going in that it was a sequel and the Euro-setting aspect intrigued me. Still, I do not get where this movie wanted to go and it was far behind the first and its follow-up was much better)

The OP's list of disappointing movies is pretty solid, though I can't believe anyone was ever excited for Godzilla.

but I'll fight to the death over the Ring. The Ameircan version is 100 times better than the Japanese version, which is fairly creepy, but fails to bring the scary for the bulk of the movie. I think the praise of Ringu is "the originals are always better" disease. No, sometimes they aren't. It's a great idea, only half realized.
