So you are saying either Disney didn't know that May was a terrible month for releases, or were too stupid to think the trend would not have an effect on their numbers?

The latter is more likely. That happens when you listen to predictions from people like Shawn Robbins. I'd say there's a little bit of arrogance from them as well. They clearly thought they could throw money at Ron Howard, rely on the Star Wars name, and bully their way through those trends.

I just hit reply to myself instead of going back a page to get to his latest post. It's not that confusing; I was still talking to him.

Wait, you think they chose May (a decision made in July of 2015) because of a prediction made 3 weeks ago?

YOU are the one who said Disney’s biggest mistake was not releasing in December.

May's monthly numbers were brought up before that.

Seriously, learn how to follow a fricking discussion.

YOU are the one who said Solo would easily get to 170 mill opening weekend had it opened in that month.

No I didn't.

quote:

Your single supporting piece of data to make that claim is that May’s monthly totals are trending lower as if people are going to the movies less and less in May without taking into account the individual movies released and why that trend is down.

We are talking opening weekends.

We're talking 'Solo Box Office Watch.'

quote:

That is totally false and laughable.

Yet you can't refute it...

Nope, and that isn't what I said, nor was that the question asked.

You said exactly:

If this movie releases in December, it easily hits those numbers.
You know we can go back and read your posts, right?

So, not $170 million, like I said. You brought those numbers up when we were talking about projections. I never once said "those numbers" was $170 million. Only you have said that. Repeatedly.

Of course you are. Because you're a moron.

If you come back, maybe I'll try apples instead of numbers.

I admit, it was moronic of me to try to argue with you. You make zero points. You say nothing in half of your posts other than denying what you say in previous posts. You're just a troll here to contradict yourself and say stupid shite.

Also. whose alter are you?

That's what the numbers are going with here.

May:

2018 - $515,700,000
2017 - $860,300,000
2016 - $925,800,000
2015 - $1,183,000,000
2014 - $1,234,300,000
2013 - $1,461,100,000

May's box office hasn't been this low since 1994 when The Flintstones was the #1 movie of the month. Factor in low Memorial Day numbers in recent years, and the writing is on the wall.
You probably should have waited until May was over...

Updated May numbers

2018 - $988,400,000

So it will cross the Billion dollar mark and the one piece of data you were relying on is gone.

And this doesn't take into account the fact IW was originally a first weekend in May release like every other summer opener. That shifted nearly $300 million into April that would've been May. You're looking at 2018 May around $1.2 billion without that schedule change.
