Not to interrupt yalls argument but you know this isn't true. It was shortly after the "don't say gay" stuff and they were back tracking on that and when it was revealed they were doing a same sex kiss it basically went viral. Every news outlet was covering it.

I agree the marketing was bad as well but the backlash from the gay stuff in a kids movie had a much bigger negative impact than bad marketing. You're being purposefully obtuse if you try to say otherwise.

I'm not trying to argue that Buzz Lightyear isn't a popular character and hasn't sold a ton of toys. Off the top of my head he was minimum top 5. But are you trying to say that Woody does not have a catchphrase? Everyone knows what Woody says when you pull his drawstring.

Just decided to google some lists in case I was forgetting some characters.

Googled "most popular animated movie characters of all time" to see some lists. All from the first page.

Those are the first two articles that popped up. Never seen Gromit but this has literally every one I listed ahead of Buzz So it's not some crazy logic. And I'm not using it to try and prove a point versus a woke person.

Oh wow, one poll (and targeted to adults at that) disproves all the sales figures, television shows, amusement park rides, and the fact that they even attempted to give Buzz his own movie.

And for the record, I do think that Woody is the better and more nuanced character than Buzz and a bit more human. Woody is kind of a fricking dick, but in the end he’s a good person that always comes around. Buzz is the cheerful optimist that almost nothing can get him down.
