Miley Cyrus really? Ugly and no talent .

I'm not in the target audience that she plays to but I have to disagree with her not having talent. She has a pretty good singing voice with a decent range

Ferrell and Murphy are usually considered the top two cast members

This got me thinking. There are a lot of lists about the best casts, members, seasons etc. but of the people who you think were popular or around for several years, which ones did you never really find entertaining (or going against popular opinion). For me:
1. Martin Short
2. Victoria Jackson
3. Chris Kattan
4. Glida

Also, I don’t think the lack of Trump was “restraint” or bowing to “those who are tired of it.” Rather, I don’t think they wanted to give Trump any space on this show

100% agree with this. I feel like the whole vibe was just don’t bring attention to negativity like that. Otherwise it would’ve been easy and low hanging fruit to include him in the “problematic guest” part of that video package when they were showing guys like Combs and OJ

See and there’s probably just a disconnect with me, I haven’t really watched the show at all since the Ferrell cast all aged out.

It’s not a “because it sucks now” thing, just as the internet started blowing up, I could just catch anything worth a damn in a clip instead of having to watch the whole show. So a lot of those bits last night were post that era so it was lost on me. For example,I’m assuming that bridesmaid thing is a recurring skit but I didn’t get it at all

the bridesmaid sketch was from last season

pete davidson’s chad character is from the last eight seasons

chad vol 1

I catch a lot of this new stuff on youtube or I watch it on youtubetv and just fast forward through the bad stuff

SNL pimped Rudy so hard after 9/11 and Hamilton when it was hot so it was pretty funny to see “I am throwing away my shot” worked into the Mulaney NYC Song

mulaney going into rehab for Coke and Alcohol and then doing jokes about Coke and Alcohol was memorable

I'm guessing you haven't seen his most recent standup special, Baby J.

Pretty sure he was referring to OJ and Robert Blake.

Where was Dana Carvey? He's been on SNL recently, so really surprised he was a no show. Would've liked to see his Biden one more time.

The Debbie Downer sketch was the worst. They should've known you can't recreate such a weird sketch that was only funny originally because they couldn't keep their shite together. A drive-by Debbie Downer cameo in another sketch would've been cute, but this was interminable.

Yes. Baldwin and Broderick were in the audience, I'm sure their brains did the math very quickly.

Yeah I did
It was great, very honest

I believe that a lot of great comics that struggled with personal demons might have loved this time in society where they could use their struggles in their material instead of having to hide it

Belushi and Farley died so Mulaney could live

I've been watching on and off throughout the day.

Some good, some bad, some small parts are really funny. Eddie Murphy is still great.

Watching this though, it reminds me of how much I stand by my opinion that Kenan Thompson is one of the worst cast members of all time, and it's not even close. I will legit never understand why or how he is so revered. He ruins just about every sketch he's in with his dumbass "reading the cue cards in my stupid Kenan Thompson fake dumb voice."

Also Bowen Yang is legit horrible as well. He may be arguably one of the only ones worse than KT.

The Sandler song stood out to me. It's amazing that he can make a dumb song about something so simple and make it silly, fun, but also sweet and sentimental. I know Sandler gets a lot of hate sometimes, but I love that dude and he always seems like a legit good dude.

The original of that sketch covered her song Espresso. In this version she covered a song aariana Grande sung. It was a meta call back.

Also this one did seem to have a different vibe than 40…sort of like the next time they have one of these it could be a little more depressing as much of the old guard probably won’t be there

Admittedly I got a little nostalgic hearing the Deep Thoughts intro with the original recording by Phil Hartman.

It's been what feels like forever, but of all the people who have died he's definitely the one who no one would have guessed wouldn't be here for their 50th.

Garrett Morris may not be. He looked pretty sickly.

Agreed that the vibe felt different. I actually appreciate what they tried to do with different famous skits with all kinds of past and present cast (plus celebs) in them. I just felt like a lot of them went on too long and fell flat because of that. But all in all I’m always down for a nostalgia blast like this.

Yeah that was great. Not even the thought itself but just the inclusion of it.

I also laughed at them blurring out blackface in the “can’t do that now” clips. How ridiculous.

What the hell was Sabrina Carpenter doing right in the middle of the cast members as if she’s some SNL staple?

One of the few celebs whose death I truly mourned.
