How much do we love this movie?
I love it so much that in 2015, when one of my best friends asked me to help him move his fiancée down from Green Bay to Metairie (with me driving the moving truck and him driving her car), I turned it into a 'Smokey and the Bandit' homage.
-- Every cell phone call between the two cars during the 2 day trip was answered with "breaker, breaker", lots of "good buddy"s and CB parlance.
-- Since they were in the car, my friend was the Bandit and his fiancée was Sally Field. I made them a trans am eagle car magnet which they put on the hood of her car for the trip ( it was only 8 1/2" X 11", but still...)
-- Since I was driving the truck, I was Jerry Reed/Cletus Snow/The Snowman. I made myself a Snowman get-up to wear the 1st day, and using our plotter at work, made two copies of 17" X 4 foot printout of the Bandit rig mural, and taped them to both sides of the Penske rental truck:
-- Of course, before heading down, I bought a six-pack of Coors to throw in the back of the truck-- BOOTLEGGIN'!!!
That trip was a lot of fun.
I should add that the movie had some sentimental value for my good friend and I; we first saw the movie together in May 1978 when we were 13; we were on a class trip to Washington DC and it was a free movie on the TV at our hotel.

Pat McCormick was an underappreciated talent of the 70s and 80s.

You sounded a little taller on the radio.

Does Smokey say Sumbit or Sumbitch?

Brain fart while typing a long post.
It IS a phoenix/Firebird. By the way, look how the NHL Seattle Kraken's minor league affiliate team ripped off the Trans Am bird and the designer swore "I did absolutely everything I could to AVOID the trans am design":

Sheriff Buford T. Justice is one of the most quotable characters in movie history.

I've heard others maybe? Wish there was some kinda list for movies on tv that have funny substitutes for "swearing"
