For whats it worth....
I think A Beautiful Mind would have been a much better movie had it not been based on a true story(albeit loosely based). I thought it just sucked.

Nothing like an unabashed ad hominem argument.

I saw "Slumdog Millionaire" for the 1st time last week and I aw "The Wrestler" two nights ago.

Slumdog was a much better film. I found "The Wrestler" very slow, boring, and VERY predictable!!!

Best part of the Wrestler was Marsia's tits and big arse nipples.

I watched it last night. It was a good movie but I guess I was expecting more with all the hype.

I am going to go with "meh."

For me this film suffered from one other unfortunate circumstance... the fact that I had already seen the superb "City of God", and there was very little hope that Slumdog could touch that one in terms of production, action, acting, and gritty ghetto reality.

Why are you comparing this movie to City of God? Because they both have all brown casts?

This is exactly what I was thinking.
They are 2 completely different films.

"Ordinary People" beating out "Raging Bull" is my choice for worst "Best Picture".

They are both foreign films centered around the character's life in the slum.

I can see how people would compare the two.

As bad as some of these are (namely Chicago, Titanic, and A Beautiful Mind)

Nothing is worse than:

Crash - 2005

Not only because it was a terrible movie that won, but because you knew it was winning because Hollywood is so damn full of itself. "Oooo, look at us, we make a movie about racism. Oooo it's so ironic that we are all a little racist." Blah, blah.

It was boring, bland, hokey, badly acted, terribly written (and Haggis CAN be a good writer, but he's a prick), and beat me over the head with repetitive themes for 2 straight hours.

Slumdog is better than all of these, but it's not a great movie. It was uplifting in a time when most people needed lifting up. No surprise that it won.

I take it you haven't seen Slumdog or Pursuit of Happyness. They were nothing a like, unless you count that they both had happy endings.

For all, I have a question, what film do you think should have won if not Slumdog?

I've seen the Reader, the Wrestler, Benjamin Button, and Grand Torino, and, although good in their own right, none were nearly as good as Slumdog.
