I hated that they took so many liberties with the original story. Why did icabod have to be a British soldier who "turned?" Also the horseman was a hessian, not British, although they never expressly stated that he was British in the show, although it was implied. Finally, Katrina was not icabod's wife, so why go there?
Ichabod said he was a mercenary who just arrived in the Americas. Therefore, Hessian still stands.

Did "that thing" look kind of like E.T. to anyone else?
Looked like a demon/Satan to me. Looked like it had horns.

Reminded me of Pan's Labyrinth.... The creepy fricker

It's definitely derivative with elements from:
Pan's Labyrinth Monsters/Creatures
Supernatural 4-Horsemen/Demons/Witches
Alcatraz & Fringe Time/Dimension travel
The Ninth Gate & National Treasure for Bible/Religious/Historical references, conspiracies, and stories
But I enjoy all of those, so I like this new series thus far.

Must have missed that. If so, good catch.

It was Fox's highest rated drama premiere in 6 years.
Don't frick with the horseman.

Sleepy Hollow, the Nicole Beharie/Orlando Jones suspense-drama, which drew an astounding 10.046 million viewers, and a 3.4 rating, making it the #1 primetime drama last night in the adults 18-49 demo, as well as FOX's highest rated fall drama premiere in 6 years, and on any broadcast network in one year, knocking off NBC's Revolution from that slot.
Don't frick with the horseman.

All of that and you leave off Grimm?

Watched it last night... I was very pleasantly surprised. Definitely enjoyed it enough to keep watching this season... and hopefully it gets a full run at a minimum. Some funny parts with Ichabod in the future playing with the car window, asking about the Starbucks, etc.

My kind of show.
I enjoyed the premiere and will keep tuning in.

1. Why did Harold arrest Ichabod? That didn't make sense at all to arrest someone who was miles away from an active incident.
Because he was part of the evil coven and realized who Ichabod was?

It wasn't bad. What was up with the shotgun blasts at the end? It looked like fireworks were going off every time the horseman's shot hit the ground

I'm guessing the same as the axe. Horseman supernatural buckshot.

Gotta be. The horseman said to him at the end "you failed", so clearly they have a history.
I liked it. Obviously there are some things you can nitpick if you were so inclined, but like I said on page 1 all I expected going in was to be entertained by a TV show, and it did that. Will definitely keep watching. I don't know how many seasons I want to see of it though, it seems like there can only be so much storyline before it gets kind of played out.

I said the same thing last night. Like I could see it being a mini-series.

That was about the only part that had me scratching my head... but if the axe is somehow 500+ degrees and cauterizing beheadings, I guess the shot might be superheated too? Just a little nitpicky thing, didn't take away from my enjoyment.

Good summary and I agree... I was really curious how they were going to take the sleepy hollow story we know and expand upon it. I like the direction they are going, it's a lot like Grimm.

This is not the type of show for someone who likes to nitpick...
I liked it.

He said they were tied together for seven years. So it could go seven seasons though I doubt it.

Because frankly it didn't really remind me of Grimm. Grimm is mainly beasts. These are more so monsters/creatures/demons. Grimm is also all fairy tails, this is just one story, the Headless Horseman. At least thus far.

I finally watched it last night and agree I does not remind me of Grimm either. Grimm started as a monster of the week and eventually added the plot with the royal families etc. as it progressed. SLeepy has an overarching story arc from the get go, and it is a good one. Mixing the american revolution with the apocolypse. I really dig this premise and hope they can sustain good writing and stories throughout the series. Lots of places to go within the story and there is set up to allow scenes/episodes to take place during the revolution as flashbacks which is also an added element I like.

The atmosphere, lighting, color schemes, etc felt similar to Grimm IMHO, even if there are significant plot differences.
Am I the only one who found it amusing that the mythology of the show as depicted in the pilot sets them up for a 7 season run?
