Slap Shot has higher highs when it comes to laugh out loud moments but Bull Durham is a far better overall movie.

Loved Long Gone. Virginia Madsen played Dixie Lee Box. Called her the female nut roaster

This is the right answer.
IMO, The Hanson brothers getting their first start is the highest bar in sports comedy, and waaaaay at the top of comedy movies in general.

Does Slap Shot have a quadraphonic Blaupunkt?

Didn't think so, meat.

Bull Durham is a better overall movie but I love Slap Shot, But because its rarely on, if they were both on at the same time I'm watching Slap Shot.

That's a fair statement. Bull Durham, the women have all the power. Slap Shot is just more machismo...guys and sport.

In terms of overall quality of sports films, Bull Durham is very close to the top.

But it's remarkably well written and acted. That's extremely rare to find in the genre

Slap Shot all day long and then some.

Costner was good but Tim Robbins throwing pitches... so sad it makes me laugh thinking about it.

Like Bull Durham a lot because…baseball. However, Slapshot is just a really great movie.

It's probably been 30+ years since the last time that I sat through this movie but it's impossible to forget how bad he looked on the mound.

Plus, Slap Shot had Melinda Dillion's amazing rack. No offense to any female posters, but it *was* amazing.

Paul Newman to the three Hanson’s: “What are you doin’”?

The responses:

“Putin’ on the foil!”

“Every game!”

“Want some?”

Paul Newman to the general manager regarding said Hansons: “Where’d you get them?! Are you crazy? They’re retarded. They brought their toys with them.”
