The JK Rowling trans comments had nothing whatsoever to do with Harry Potter, and people's anger at her comments also had nothing to do with Harry Potter. No one ever asked her, or at least she has never responded to a request to make Potter characters trans. Rowling has not voiced an opinion on trans characters; she gave some opinions on how trans women should be viewed by society.

Did she really need to boost sales for a book series that was universally excepted? Hey, that’s her business, but did it work? From the looks of it, it only brought more negative attention to her and put a target on her from the trans community. Do you think that’s what she had intended to do?
