If I wasn't taking my boys to Warfare tomorrow I'd probably go see this again.

Sinners was good, but Warfare is still my #1 movie of the year so far

Easily #1 for me too. After that, it's either Black Bag, Sinners or The Monkey

Don’t shoot me for asking, it’s simply a question because of a podcast I was listening to. I have been amped since the first trailer I saw. But is there a substantial race component or implications to it? It was an all black podcast crew so maybe it was just for the jokes or something
Yes. It's still a good movie, but thematically its about cultural assimilation and disenfranchisement. This isn't a knock on it, but to say it has nothing to do with race is wrong. The vampires represent cultures stealing black music (blues) and making it their own with the promise of peace and integration that never comes to fruition. Its a smarter movie than people think, but a bit heavy handed IMO

I was blown away how much I loved this movie, thought might be hard to live up to the hype but incredibly funny and touching movie in parts and some really creative scenes from Coogler
Certainly some plot armor used throughout to keep it going but didn’t really mind that.
Was surprised how effective that post credit scene was to create another layer of emotional impact to the story
I appreciate that they didn’t try to get cute with the vampire rules. Kind of tired of every new vampire movie needing a 20 minute scene to try to explain how vampires exist in this reality and which things are fake and which are the actual things that kill them
Also adding the music was great, the young BG actor if that was him was amazing. Stopped me in my tracks a bit when he went early on, usually that is a very half assed scene with an actor that can’t see or perform irl

Very minor one at beginning and end. Not a major plot.

Solid movie but my main takeaway was, Hollywood dropping vampire movies on Christmas and Easter weekend can’t be a coincidence.

Really enjoyed it.
The Sammie musical scene was awesome but I think I liked the Irish Jig better.

That second post credit scene made it seem like little Sammie made a deal with the devil, or is that reading too much into it?

Great to see the imax theaters slam packed in week 2 of release
The movies and theater experience aren’t dead just yet
The masses will go if it’s worth watching. Proven time and again.
But Netflix is so hellbent on trying to kill and bury the entire thing while they produce garbage 300 million dollar movies that nobody will remember

Quite the opposite. The vampires try to temp him with eternity (when really they're online half alive), but Sammie is content because he has already secured that prize. He continues to play music, meaning his music is part of the past, present, and the future. He has an undying legacy.

I think the Irish Jig was supposed to mimic appropriation by bringing all the vampires together and having them create a rock session like the one that happened in the "safe space" ie juke joint. I could be wrong.

Phenomenal movie. I loved it

This was such a great movie. Loved it. I didn't know what to expect and i enjoyed every minute of it.
Never seen so many white celebrities in my entire life go out of their way on social media to celebrate a movie before. That's Tom Cruise, Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick, Zach Braff, Pedro Pascal, Jimmy Fallon, etc.
It reminds me when Obama was running for office

I think he means the other scene, where he is singing in the church and looks up

Damn, I need to go see this this week before it starts leaving theaters
