But replaced Hank Azaria with some Indian dude. So, what's the point, really?
How much do you want to bet that everything he says now will be super insightful and wise.
I haven't regularly watched the show in many years. I catch one every once in a blue moon and it's not worthless, but it's definitely more left wing and not nearly as funny, the natural result of having everyone worry about offending people all of the time.

Apu was often one of the most insightful and smart characters in the show though. That wouldn't be a change from his established personality.

No way. When it first came out it was fresh. Nothing else like it and Homer was a kick. This was before every sitcom dad was turned into a retard so it was funny.
But it’s long past it’s time. Prime Family Guy was edgier and funnier and Archer was more clever.

Apu was always one of the most rational characters especially of the side characters. His only big frick up was cheating on his wife with the girl who refilled the squishee machines.

Maybe I misspoke he's not rational in the real world sense but in comparison he's better than many in the show. That being said he definitely has some major negatives but I wouldn't consider him of the most irrational characters
