Hmm

Won the tech comp.

They won the suit vs. Hoolie

Nucleus is scrapped

They are funded

Their company has expanded exponentially with jack at the helm

It's not like they haven't made progress or won

what does everyone think of Gilfoyle?

im just not a huge fan of his dry bland humor. i heard him last week on a radio interview and the dude is 100% the same as his character. it was like they were interviewing a brick wall. he just gave one word answers and acted like he was either half asleep or stoned the whole time.

i dont dislike his character, just dont think he adds much to the show and is one of the weaker characters.

Richard, Denish, Erlich, and Jared are much stronger characters IMO

Um. Do you know what the word fired means?

As far as I know, vested shares don't go away when someone is fired.

Well they just said that they ran out of cash, paying off the girl. So, I'm guessing it isn't that much. The show is definitely frustrating at this point. In my mind, they have this great utility that many companies need. I don't understand why they need to package it as a stand alone product. The guy from Hoolie said that they would have paid 250M before the judgment came down. Once that was read, I would have cut that deal.

Arguably the best character. His humor is perfect.

I read an article awhile back that said this show is spot on for tech startups. Basically, the Apple's or Facebooks of the world where two guys start a company out of the garage and make exactly what they want just doesn't happen all that often. And the object for most of these venture capital people is to make money, so all they are worried about is getting a viable product so they can sell and make money regardless of if that product is the same that started everything. It kinda makes you understand why Zuckerburg is such an a-hole, you kinda have to be if you want your vision made.

But I get that winning is not "winning" on this show. And when he tripped over the hose and dropped the papers, holy shite.

Denish is nothing but a whiny bitch without Gilfoyle. They play off of each other perfectly.

pretty sure the whole point is that you have to be there when they vest or they're worthless, but i'm not a corporate lawyer

vested stocks are like an option

They are set up that Erlich owned 10% originally and GilFoyle and Denish owned something and Richard had the rest. When Hannemann came in and loaned them money, I think he just got board seats, not stocks. Even if they did offer him stocks in exchange for the money, they would either dilute their shares equally or Richard would lose some of his most likely.

The thing was that in the beginning Ravega bought 5% for like 200k or 400k with a board seat for Peter. They backed out of the venture capital so they received no more company equity but bought whatever Hannemann had bought with his two board seats.

There is nothing you can do to take away ownership in a company at this point. That would be like firing someone and then telling them that they owe you for their last year's salary. Unless they restructured all the ownership and stock options into something else without it appearing on the show, they own it outright as investors and are also working there.

i imagine when the VCs got involved, this is exactly what happened

VCs aren't going to essentially loan 7-8 figures without being able to impose some major control

if Richard owned 75% (or whatever it is now) of the stock he could vote in his board every time and the VCs would flip out

This board always impresses me with his deep they can dig into a show, especially a sit-com.

I watch, get my laughs in, and then wait for next week.

This show is funniest thing in TV right now, hands down

well i was an avid listener to the "startup" podcast and the main guy talked about how his stocks vested in 4 years and if he left before that he got nothing

The storyline is great, they can go on for several seasons.

I can imagine they hit it big eventually and it turns into an "Entourage" type show. Would be glorious.

Gilfoyle and Dinesh are on the Schmidt/Nick Miller (Ne Girl) level for a duo playing off each other.

Also, kudos to whoever named those characters. I've never heard of a Gilfoyle, but the dude fits the name perfectly.

A VC didn't do any of that though. If you remember, they did the initial capital for 5% but backed out of the second round of evaluation due to the lawsuit. This means that when they bought hannemann's stock/votes, they got whatever he had and nothing more. hannemann doesn't strike me as a guy who made good choices when it came to stock options considering he wanted the second board vote because his girlfriend wanted something to do.

Juin Yang(using garbage disposal) He's a liar!

Erlich l: Why are you yelling? We are the only ones in the house! You're not going to make me change my opinion about myself.

How has no one mentioned this? Funniest thing said this season.
