I feel like this is the much more likely scenario.
Yeah, people read way too much into things. The actor probably had to do that fall quite a few times. Just protecting his knees.
The only misgiving I have about that is them referencing Oceans 11 earlier in the episode, and this being all part of an elaborate ruse.
"Its a 2001 heist movie staring Julia Roberts and 11 men."

Jesus, i just lost it to Jared's joke.
Everything Jared said in that episode was hilarious. That was my favorite episode of the season so far.
When Richard could handle the Pappy I had to pause the TV I was laughing so hard.
Also, Cypress Hilal
Jared got so excited about busting balls. And he stayed up all night working on that but hole joke
They should've kept that skunkwork arc going for a few episodes just to have Jared made jokes.

Someone posted pictures that looked like Richard was wearing knee pads
I'm sure that was so the actor didn't crack his kneecap on the marble floor doing take after take of that shot

Yeah probably so but it would be cool if he had some other plan. It would just be cool if the genius would be a genius every now and then.

Most people like that don't have common sense

Well last episode he developed a revolutionary way to use his technology and a fantastic way to maximize his company's profits and growth it just so happens that he didn't mean to come up with it.

I have a hunch the CEO is going to like their plan because he's gonna see it laid out in detail and be able to use it.
I really liked these last two episodes overall.

The writing is great, really shows how innovators vs businessmen are in conflict in the valley
Richard diesnt understand Action Jack's job is to build a product, bring it to market, issue and IPO and get Reviga paid. Richard is a dreamer and Action Jack is a realist.
What will tip the scale is Richard will tell action Jack about the other company's discovery and they will most likely ramp up and build the platform and the box and hit the market with both

I may be reading too much into it, but I think there's more to the end of the episode than "Richard tripped and ruined the whole plan".
Three things:
First, the reference to Ocean's 11 may have been for more than just comedy. The whole theme of that movie is that everything you're seeing is just a distraction to take your focus away from what's actually happening. I think they have a plan, and letting Jack discover their "secret Plan" is part of it.
Second, they keep talking about needing more engineers to achieve their goal of getting the platform to market. I think showing Jack their plan to pull the old bait-and-switch was a way to ensure that he will hire more engineers, as he must now feel they are no longer trustworthy. At this point his focus will be on them rather than the new engineers, which I think they are banking on. Of course, this is all assuming they have an idea of who Jack will likely hire as additional engineers and have already reached out to them, divulged their plan and gotten them on board with it, which I think is the case.
Third, the whole "I needed to shred this at he office" shite is just too ridiculous to be real, but let's assume that it was for a second......Richard has a fricking bag when he walks into the office, yet he's carrying all of that "sensitive" info in a manilla folder....
Anyone with a modicum of sense would have the papers in the bag until the moment you went to shred it. That would be horrible and lazy writing, which isn't indicative of this show at all.
As I said, I could be reading way too much into it, but I think their plan goes deeper than what's being shown on the surface.

I hope so because its just getting old how every episode is one step forward with two steps back. As others have said, there's no tension. We all know something or someone is going to screw up so why bother getting invested in that episodes storyline?
Veep has become a better show.

For the comedy alone.
Veep is a funny show, but guarantee you Veep doesn't have gems like
"Bell Biv Dinesh, that chain is pooooison"
Also...it cracked me up when Dinesh asks Gilfoyle for his usb launcher thing when he was cleaning his desk out and then he tosses it in the trash, then Dinesh tells him he's gonna just take it out the trash...and then Gilfoyle pours coffee on it.
