You seem to have a hard time understanding that all those shows had laugh tracks.
I don’t care if you disliked the show, but your reasoning is stupid.
Saying you disliked a show after 2 minutes b/c of a laugh track is just silly.

Plenty of sitcoms have laugh tracks. That’s a dumb reason to not like a show considering some of the best sitcoms of all time used them as well.

Penny is great, I treat he as the most resilient/survivor type. Her and Sheldon's relationship was the heart of the show.

Agreed. The first season sets it up as if Leonard and her would be the main relationship eventually, and even though they did get together, the growth from neighbors to brother/sister like between Penny and Sheldon was the absolute best part of the show. He made her think and become more confident and grounded. She made him leave his comfort zone and open out of his shell. Together they forced each other to see/hear things they needed to at the time they needed to see/hear it. Even when others would baby them or not confront them. Which is why it was great when Penny and Sheldon would butt heads. In the end, their mutual respect and love for each other grew in their own way.

The show lost a TON of steam when the guys got girlfriends/fiances/wives and they became main cast members. Before that it was really funny, clever, and well-done.

On rewatches or when you watch random episodes on TV’s.. those early first few seasons, it’s so colorful and it pops on tv.. the later seasons it becomes so dull and boring .. that’s when it turns from being good to pretty meh.

Did people actually find this show to be funny? I made it about 2 minutes into this laugh track nightmare before pulling the eject handle.

WTF … Seinfeld has laugh tracks.

Is this still a thing? It’s still the cool and hip thing to do to hate on this show? Cause it certainly was… I had never seen the show but everyone loved to hate on it here and online.

I started watching random re-run episodes couple years ago. My wife was watching and I’d overhear the dialogue. I thought it was funny.

Not knowing anything about the show but overhearing Sheldon diatribes and spouting off random esoteric physics knowledge... I thought it was funny and I started watching. It’s not some masterpiece , but it’s a fun show.

People who hate on it are probably miserable. If you don’t like it , fine, don’t watch it. But this vocal movement to actively go out of your way to hate on it, that’s complete bullshite , get a life

The main characters voice and attitude is grating and every male on the show is a pathetic whiny pussy

They are dorks. That's the joke.

Let's be real. The show is built on making fun of someone who is autistic

I've been told numerous times by different people that I would love the show, it has never clicked for me after multiple attempts. I did however enjoy Young Sheldon but more for the supporting cast and not Sheldon.

I appear to be in the minority in not caring for the show according to the voting system on T-D, not sure where you are seeing the "vocal movement." Some people don't like The Office and that's ok because I understand why someone wouldn't like the show. Can you understand why some people wouldn't like Big Bang Theory?

I thought that BBT had run it's course when it ended. The stereotype of the sitcom caricature really hit Bernadette hard. She was pretty insufferable by the end of the run. It seemed like Leonard and Penny had been reduced to straight men and it had become the Sheldon show.

I didn't like the way it ended with Sheldon having some sort of epiphany about what a dick he was. The writers had already done that multiple times. Why was this one different?

We still watch the show a lot. At least a few episodes a week. I do prefer the earlier seasons when Penny, Leonard, and Sheldon were the focus.

What is it with you people that take criticism of something you like so personally? I watched the clip, the jokes were lame, the laugh track was irritating. I'm not part of some vocal movement to hate on it. That's absurd. I reacted to a clip someone else posted. You nerds need to relax.

I don’t give a frick what show you like. It was absolutely the trendy thing to shite all over this show. I never watched it back then. I was told it was awful.

The term was that arrested development was show about stupid people for smart people. And BBT was show about smart people for stupid people.

No one gives a frick what you watch. But I sure as shite don’t waste times in threads for things I don’t enjoy or care about. Have a great day

We got the big bang theory book the other day from one of the Prime Day sales and I haven't had a chance to go through it, but I do know that Sheldon was originally just supposed to be a supporting character and tested off the charts in the early seasons, so he got more screen time.

I love the show, but can admit the supporting cast are pretty awful characters, though.

Howard is a disgusting piece of human garbage. His literal only redeeming quality is he's a great friend to Sheldon, despite that Sheldon basically absuses him and treated Howard as a second-class citizen.

They should've just owned up to making Raj gay. It's not like there aren't homosexual nerds out there, too.

Stuart is a worthless mooch.

Bernadette is a ball-busting hard arse who would never go for Howard in any known universe.

The writing for Amy was all over the place, with her being awkward and standoffish with everyone, even Penny, then after a season she has this quasi-lesbo crush on her. It was a very strange character arc.

It should've been Leonard who shared the Nobel with Sheldon, not Amy.

I hate the way they reverse developed her character. She was PhD candidate but goofy. Then they made her insufferable in later seasons who was always yelling and intimidating and high level bitch. It started silly like she was a screamer like Howard’s mother, but then she was written as just a complete bitch through and through.

The one episode I can say I hated was that episode with Amy and Will Wheaton when she’s an absolute bitch to him during Fun with Flags. It’s was completely out of character for no reason. And then she’s angry Sheldon didn’t take her side when it was 100% her fault. Really poor writing there IMO.

I know that half of Young Sheldon is retroactive continuity, but there's so much meat they left on the bone for stories Adult Sheldon tells in BBT that they either never touch or straight up contradict directly. I've mentioned in other BBT threads how I hate how Sheldon portrays George and it's all proved to be hella false in YS. Everything good that happened to Sheldon when it came to catering to his intelligence was because of George.

Other threads that remained loose:

Unrevealed siblings:

-Leonard's brother and sister
-Raj's other 3 brothers and sisters
-Howard's half-brother from the one episode that never comes back
-Penny's sister
