Y’all ever been to one of these things? This is our third time coming to this club. We’ve seen:
Pauly Shore
Jamie Kennedy

Jeselnik is in an interesting place where he is famous enough and wealthy enough that he promotes way less than Bert, Segura, Mark Normand, Theo Von, Stavros, etc even though he is much bigger than them
Tosh is in the same boat.
How was Jeselnik?

Sadly, in comedy today, you are either a previously establish superstar from another era like Chappelle or Kevin Hart or even Bill Burr, or you are unfunny hack who does nothing but use Joe Rogan rub off to be relevenat and use his youtube formula. Or you are the
guys like Jeselnik, Tosh, and those guys "outside the circle" just kind of disappeared from the public airwaves.
The demise and death of Comedy Central as an exposure avenue really killed original comedy and funneled everyone into the Rogan copycat lane.
... And there are the rarities like Tim Dillon.. Who are pretty one of one unique in tbe moment.

The inner circle of social media comedy is hard for me to really get a handle on.
There are several groups of guys who are friends: Bert and Segura, Normand and Sam Morrill, Andrew Santino/Bobby Lee, Andrew Schultz and his cadre of unfunny friends.
All seem to be tied to Rogan to an extent.
And all of them are either podcast hosts or frequent guests.
The only one that is really unique to me is Normand. And Segura is a good, if not revolutionary.
And now you also have comedians like Stavros and Brittany Schmitt who were kind of making it on their own, joining in that gigantic, mostly repetitive circle.
This is making it much more homogenous

Then you have the crowd work specialists who I hold in disdain like Matt Rife, Ashley Gavin, Akaash Singh, etc who just do extremely hacky and simple crowd work, which the TikTok algorithm loves for some reason.

here's a few jokes that really stood out (if you know anthony jeselnik, you have to read these in his tone to get it... essentially

there's a lot of trans people nowadays.
i consider it being the new pregnant....
you can't ask them how far along they are...
and you can't ask them if they're going to keep it or not.
=========================================
here's a little test i use to see if a woman is trans or not...
i order them a bourbon...
if they say, "oh, i'm sorry. i'm pregnant." then they're a woman.
if they take the drink... they're fricking trans.
=========================================
what do you call a pregnant woman that gets hit by a bus....?
a gender reveal party.
=========================================
everyone knows i hate kids.
my sister sends me texts of my niece all the time...
i would just ignore it. act like i never got it...
my sister would say, "got nothing to say about your niece fricking up this finger painting...?"
so every time i get a picture of a kid, and you can use this,too.....
i reply back, "thanks........ i'll save that for later."
=================================
i don't know want to get political, but i want to tell you what's wrong with this country
you can get your drivers license at 16, but you have to be 18 to vote.
i believe, if your old and mature enough at 16 to drive in this country.......
then i should be able to frick you.
:everyone:

i tell that joke in alabama, and someone meets me in the parking lot after show and tells me, "anthony, you've really got to change that joke. age of consent is 16 in alabama."
i respond, "you've really got to change that law."

Damn, you’ve got a great memory.

I paraphrased. He had a lot of them.
He had a Rogan joke:
I love Joe Rogan. He’s one of best friends….
But if you listen to his podcast….
You’re a fricking loser.
I’ve got a cousin, doesn’t miss an episode.
All four hours and he still thinks it isn’t long enough.

Saw him a few weeks ago at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi. Freaking hilarious and much darker than I expected. I was only familiar with him through instagram clips. The wife was far less amused.
My favorites:
I walk into a bar and have a seat, and at the other end of the bar, much to my surprise, I see my favorite porn actress of all time. So I call over the bartender and say, “I’ll have one beer for myself, and you see that girl at the other end of the bar? She can’t be in here - she’s only 13.”
My cousin Nathan is so dumb. He told me he got a tattoo of the Japanese symbol for “awesome”… He lifts his shirt sleeve to show me, and it’s a tattoo of a swastika….
I said, “Nathan, you’re so stupid - everyone knows… that’s the GERMAN symbol for awesome.”
My girlfriend says she’s addicted to chocolate. She can’t stop eating it and says it’s an addiction. So I dragged her to the car and drove her to the hood and found a crack addict standing on the corner. I said, “Do you see that?…Why can’t you be that skinny?”
A friend of mine asked me if I’d be a sperm donor for her baby. I responded, “That depends - how old is your baby?”

Schultz is hilarious. Unless you’re referring to the guys on the podcast with him.

I like both of them but they’re both pretty middle tier. If you think Normand and Segura are better than Schultz. I don’t know what to tell you.
My problem with a lot of these people is that they are situationally funny but not good comedians.
Bert is very lame as a comedian but hilarious as a story teller and sidekick friend.
Tim Dillon’s standup is ok at best but his off the cuff interviews or podcasts kill me.

Yes. 1000 times yes to that. I’ve said for months that YouTube and TikTok have been pushing them hard, not real people.

Schultz is pretty funny.
Based on the viral clips on social media, the guys on his podcast are a collection of extremely uninteresting, over-the-top arse kissers.
And Akaash Singh is pathetic. A guy whose livelihood is kissing the arse of any guest they have on the show and bullying people at his shows with tired, boring lines that any 14 year old could come with.
I don’t really know Schulz that well but he reduces his value based on the people he associates with and by doing podcasts with a bunch of Twitch streamers and Andrew Tate-adjacent guys. He needs to take a lesson from John Mulaney, who usually manages to bring himself up with his collaborations.
I look at Jeselnik, Tosh, Burr, etc and see real talent, and I’m absolutely stunned at some of the guys making millions on podcasts when they’re duller and much dumber than pretty much anyone I’m friends with.

Maybe he figures it worked for Jimmy Fallon.
