I thought this was great. I’m not an expert and I still haven’t seen Scream 4 but this has to be near the top of the class for me. I actually thought there were moments of this that actually moved into the kinda scary range.

It’s definitely the most tense I’ve been since Scream 2. Gale’s chase scene in Scream 2 is still top but man the bodega, subway and the ladder sequences were incredibly well directed and were genuinely terrifying.
Also thought I’d mention that I really enjoyed Sam in her dad’s costume, complete with the Ghostface head tilt. Man I hope they go all out for 7 and bring back Neve and even Patrick Dempsey. They wanted Dempsey in this one but it didn’t work out

same. never saw scream 4. i'm not a big horror guy, but i can handle "realistic" slashers. i bury my head plenty, but my wife loves them so i endured. got lucky after so i'll call it a wash.
enjoyed this one. after the first mask came off, i was thinking "they don't normally do that right?" and was honestly shocked at the following sequence.
i thought in taking place in NYC with a lot of people in ghostfaces made it a bit more fun. being surrounded in the city was a different take than Woodsboro and i liked it.
Chad and Kirby living was stupid (since i skipped 4, i had no idea who Kirby was.) the bad guys' motivation was stupid. conspiracy theories blaming sam were stupid.

What is stupid about family revenge?

That 100% would happen in real life

That was the motivation for Billy's mother being a killer in Scream 2, which I feel like this movie was attempting to mirror.

your son murdered a bunch of people. i'm sorry that he died in the process as well, but he lived by the sword and died by it.
there's not a world where i take up after my son's cause if i find out he murdered a bunch of people. the family wasn't buying into the conspiracy theory crap either, they knew he was a murderer.

Well they’re clearly not a normal family

Oh, yeah. That was one of the more believable aspects of the film. The offspring of the original Woodsboro killer one of the lone survivors of a murder spree that mimicked the original killings?

We rented this on demand last night and I have a tremendous gripe with the Jenna Ortega love interest surviving. This dude must be living with no vital organs in his body because he was a human pun cushion and SURVIVED. frick that

Yeah, even though I thought 6 was pretty good (and better than 5), aside from all the plot armor (Gale, Mindy, and Chad all surviving) the one thing that bothered me is that Ghostface gets its arse kicked in numerous scenes (e.g., hit in the head with a knife block, lamp, vase, etc.) but once the mask comes off, they never have any bruises. Quinn and Ethan should be all bruised up by the time they take their masks off at the end, but NOPE, not a scratch on either!

Damn well know there would be a few posters on this site claiming that she did it too

Watched this last night.
LORD did it suck. I even guessed the killer and his 1 of his accomplices.

Saw this at the theater today in 3D. It's a well-produced product to serve mass horror appeal. Nothing particularly memorable about it. It's pop culture horror junk food. If that's your thing, you'll enjoy it. I found it ok. It's nothing I'd normally choose to watch.
I will say, however, that I didn't care for the fact that the movie plays fast and loose with its internal logic. There's little suspense to be had once you realize that important characters get stabbed once while the others meet more grisly fates (although the vast majority, aside for a few characters, meet a very similar type of death). Similarly, other important characters are inexplicably brought back after being mortally wounded on screen to serve story mechanics.
Finally, due to the movie's double cold opening and its false denouement, the movie feels LONG. And speaking of that ending! I'll just say very ill advised.

My long history of not liking Scream movies after the first (which was transcendental) isn't something new.
Neither is my relatively high standards for horror. Horror is my favorite genre. When I see a new horror movie that is good, I 100% rush here to tell everyone.
I will let you in on a not so secret fact: While Scream came out in the 90s, and was unquestionably awesome, it ushered in one of the worst eras of horror: 90s MTV horror. The Final Destination and IKWYDLS series, the Halloween reboot, the remakes (Psycho, Children of the Damned, etc.), bullshite like the Faculty...all horrible. Kevin Williamson is an S-tier hack.
The Scream reboots were basically 90s MTV movies injected with the shittiest parts of modern culture (although 6 is much better on this end than 5, which was unbearable in it's meta-meta attempts and DEI bullshite)

That is every Scream movie. The only time i remember that happening is Micky at the end after the car crash minutes before in Scream 2

I had some real problems with this one:
1. If you’re going to take it outside of Woodsboro and make a big deal of it being in NYC, make the film in NYC. Every shot was clearly in a studio or using a sub.
2. I like Dermot Mulroney but holy shite was he not right for this at all.
3. The explanation Mulroney gives when discussing how they faked the death of his daughter and he’s like “I just got there early and switched out her body with another.” As if he’s exchanging two pillows and not a dead human.
