Release Date: March 10, 2023.

Currently at 78% on the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes with 152 reviews in.

Currently scoring 62/100 ("Generally Favorable Reviews") on the review aggregator Metacritic.

The film stars Melissa Barrera, Courteney Cox, Jenna Ortega, and Hayden Panettiere.

The Critics' Consensus:

quote:

Certain aspects of horror's most murderously meta franchise may be going stale, but a change of setting and some inventive set pieces help keep Scream VI reasonably sharp.

Set after the events of last year's Scream 5, the survivors of that aforementioned movie leave Woodsboro far behind to attend college in New York City. When the Ghostface killings start anew, it's up to our beloved protagonists and some familiar faces from previous installments to solve the murders before they become victims themselves.

The critics are calling this the most brutal and meta of the Scream films yet.

Just watched a youtube review from someone I watch that loves Scream franchise. Gave it a B+ and said it is definitely the most brutal killings yet. Said he felt the reveal was weakest part of the movie but everything up until that point was great.

82 reviews now, still at 80%

Spoiler Alert!!!

Excluding the first one because everyone was new, it's always one of the new characters.

Yes, it is the most solid horror franchise with this many movies in it. There are no complete dogshit entries in this franchise. 1 and 2 are great, 3 is kinda meh, 4 is better than 3 and 5 is up there with 1 and 2 for me.

and with 6, i have heard that you really should watch the first 5 before watching it.

I will second the sentiments of the person who responded to you. Pound for pound, and in terms of overall quality, it's the best slasher film franchise out there. Scream is iconic, Scream 2 is a solid sequel, Scream 3 is the only truly mediocre film in the franchise, while Scream 4 and Scream 5 are both solid films on par with the second movie in the franchise.

There is a little easter egg in 5 that reveals her fate in 4.

There was supposed to be a trilogy started with 4 that got scrapped after it underperformed. It would have been revealed then that she survived 4. They teased it last year in 5 and now she is back in 6.

you've got to really be looking for it in 5. it was the YouTube thumbnail that takes up 1 inch of the screen.

What I find funny is that when the original came out theatres shite all over it and many didn't want to or didn't even give it a screen.

Then like a month or two after it was initially released it went mainstream AF and it was selling out in every theatre.

Scream with one of the all time rope-a-dope moves with Barrymore and you think she’s the star of the movie and bam she’s dead 10 minutes in.
