So I guess you didn't like The Dark Knight Returns?

No, I actually enjoyed The Dark Knight Returns.

Spoilers for those who haven't seen it.

But the world they have in it is a comic book world. Bruce gets shot and stabbed and then manages to run around for 15 minutes dodging bullets.

The Joker can break his own neck. Superman isn't nearly as powerful as he is portrayed in MOS. He has trouble deflecting the nuke in that, and Batman actually seems to affect him before the kryptonite arrow. Superman is underpowered as compared to MOS, and Batman is overpowered as compared to anything we have seen live action.

That is the issue. Snyder went with a god in MOS. They literally could tear anything to shreds, and humans are merely ants. I don't see how Batman holds up, unless you make him superpowered, or do not use his physicality at all.

So, you're a fan of TDKR, but you don't like the armor Snyder is using? That doesn't make any sense.

ETA: And I thought he was not as powerful as he usually is in MoS.

Can someone please provide a link that confirms that Batman and Superman are going to come to blows. I mean everyone feels pretty confident that it's going to happen and I feel like I missed the announcement.

While someone is doing that I'm going to provide a LINK to what I think they are more likely to go with and will change the name accordingly by the time the film is ready to promote on the big screen and small screen.

Read what I wrote. In TDKR Superman is hurt by a nuke, he has trouble deflecting a nuke, Batman stands toe to toe with him before kryptonite. He is way underpowered compared to Snyder's version of Superman in MOS.

Superman in MOS, would have punted the nuke out of the galaxy, and would rip Batman's heart out through that armor. That armor would not stand a chance. In MOS they were tearing through buildings, ripping up jets, tearing through walls. Everything was paper to them. Armor isn't going to protect Batman in Snyder's universe (unless it has kryptonite on it).

I don't like the armor, I don't hate it. But it doesn't fit with the way Snyder has set up his world in MOS.

He's not doing this word for word. He took some aspects of TDKR. We don't know what they're doing. everyone is assuming too much. Could the Hulk do the same to Iron Man? What kind of materiel is it made out of?

ETA: The Hulk from The Avengers must be weak as frick.

For starters, do we even know if Batman and Superman are going to fight?

It was a teaser trailer. When have those ever actually involved movie clips?

Snyder's world in MOS seems comparable to Nolan's world
Can someone explain this to me? How is it grounded in reality? What aspects if the movie make it like Nolan's world?

Also, the title is Batman v Superman. Is it an equally shared movie, or does one character take the lead over the other? You would think with Luthor being the villain, that Supes would be your main character, but who knows.
Batman faces off against Luthor quite often in the DC universe.

The main thing I'm not really getting is how MoS is apparently a non-comic book world. Someone should explain that to me.

As absurd as a real fight between Superman and Batman would be without the contrivance of writers purposely letting Batman "outsmart" Superman like always happens because that's how it has to happen, I'd be pretty upset if the name of the movie is Superman vs Batman and no one so much as throws a punch.

i already knew clicking on this board that i would find people bitching over that teaser. yet the rest of world seems extremely happy and excited by the teaser. the reviews on it have been overtly positive. they had such a great reaction they showed it again.

yet without missing a beat, some immediately want to take a shite on it. if you werent at least excited by that teaser, i dont think you like those characters and probably wont like the film.

is it "cool" to hate on batman and superman now?

Scruffy I'm in the same thinking you and I'm about to bail like Freauxzen already has because this is nothing but an argument in speculation with the only info to base it off is a costume.

We know nothing about this film other than the title, some cast members and what costumes are going to resemble. Just relax on the speculation and be excited that this film is on the way. If you're not excited for this film then just don't comment because those that are excited don't care about your opinion.

Yes.

People are bitching because they want these characters grounded so firmly in reality that neither could exist in the same universe as the other.

Like I said before, Nolan's Batman universe screwed any future Batman movies because now people can't seem to suspend disbelief when it comes to a comic book character put to the big screen.

Exactly. We know nothing, and teaser trailers show nothing. I cannot recall a single teaser trailer ever showing an actual movie clip or anything involving the story. Half the time, they are purposely misleading.

I agree though, this argument is a waste and has become stale. I'm checking out as well.

Maybe they don't fight, and they shouldn't. But based on what is hinted and the armor, and the damn title, you think they might face off a bit.

When I say realistic, I mean gritty, non-comic book feeling. When your story is about an alien then you are inherently going to get some sci-fi elements. The movie felt grounded though, like Nolan's films and Winter Soldier.

I'm not a Marvel or DC fanboy. I never read comics growing up. I loved the original Superman movie and still hold it up as one of my favorite superhero movies. I thought Nolan's films didn't let Batman shine (intelligence, detective skills, etc.) I loved the first part of Batman Begins, The Dark Kight reminded me of Heat (which I loved), and TDKR was a mess (Batman was barely in it). The other night Batman Begins and MOS were on at the same time. I watched more of MOS than Batman Begins.

I'm just saying that based on watching TDKR, and abel's proclamations that the movie is pulling many elements from it, and the teaser clip that Batman has a suit to face off against Superman. Based on everything I have seen in MOS, that is a futile gesture unless it has kryptonite.

I think so.

This thread has cause me to recite Nick Swardson's "jaded movie goer" bit over and over.

"Naw bro that sucked" "yeah but the action" "yeah totally sucked bro"

Additionally, I think Affleck is a solid choice as a grizzled Batman, I think Cavill was fine (although a bit monotone) as Superman, and I think Gadot looks stunning as Wonder Woman. I just hope Snyder can mesh the dynamic between the two characters together.
