Watched it.

Not great. Not terrible.

As others have mentioned they had to change a lot to cram everything into two hours, and it suffers for it.

In Sum: better than the TNT travesty, nowhere near as good as Tobe Hooper’s classic. Probably a good decision to send it straight to streaming. It wouldn’t have done well in theaters.

Watched it tonight. It was alright. Had some solid moments but like others said it just felt super rushed. Would’ve been good for a three-part miniseries.

It was fine. Honestly, it was probably as good as we can expect for a movie that was only 114 minutes and took completely unnecessary artistic liberties. As others have said, it was very rushed so much of the storylines were not fleshed out enough and much of what made the book so creepy had to be left out. One of the chilliest moments in the book was when Barlow mentioned his original correspondence with Marsten so I would’ve liked for this movie to include that. It could’ve been so much better as a miniseries.

Refreshingly solid horror movie. The kid being super great at everything was annoying but the young actor was good. There was some weird editing early on around the second brothers funeral and they did the wack-a-mole trope at the end with Barlow trying to get the kid but other than that it was just a good fun October flick.

How long ago did this get filmed. One kid actor is the kid that plays Homelander’s son and he looks younger than he did in the most recent The Boys season.

It’s his brother, they’re twins, Cameron and Nick Crovetti but the one who plays in The Boys is taller than the kid from Salem’s Lot so he looks older.

Whelp 20 mins into it and the cheese is everywhere. The original Salem's lot freaked me out but this one so far is horrible.

Spoilers

One of the scariest parts of the original was the younger brother biting his brother after him letting him into the window. Nope they already changed that and now the guy(Mike) falling asleep at the grave site burying the brother. Jesus this is just bad.

Eta: lol everbody got crosses laying around and I didn't make it 45 mins on this one. This one makes the original SL look like a masterpiece.

Exactly, pretty disappointed, why would they turn this into a kids movie basically? It wasn’t terrible but definitely not scary in my opinion.

Yeah, I thought it was distinctly in the fine category.

The vampires wandering around at night was pretty creepy

I didn't like it, didn't hate it. I haven't read the book, but I could feel this was a truncated version. Not a great feature for a 2 hour movie that doesn't really get going until it's 40+ minutes in.

Serious question: how does the kid Mark link what's happening back to Barlow? I thought I was paying attention, but it seems I missed something crucial.
