The Patriot - when the little girl (who doesn't talk) runs up to Mel Gibson and begs him not to leave again. "I'll say anything you want me to, daddy...just please don't go..."

I liked it.

I know some people who didn't though, kinda because of your same reason.

I can't believe this thread has gone 4 pages and nobody has mentioned the farewell scene in "Schindler's List". I cried like a pussy when they gave him the gold ring.

same.

Terms of Endarment- when Shirly Mclain yells at the nurses to get her daughter some pain meds

Saving Private Ryan- when the Ryan goes back to Normandy and starts to cry at the gravesites. I started to uncontrollably sob from that scene and didnt stop for the entire movie.

Turner and Hooch- when they put the dog down

Forrest Gump- when Jenny dies or when Forrest meets little Forrest for the first time and asks "Is he smart?"

I'm not looking forward to seeing Marley and Me (SPOILERS)
because I cried forever after reading the book. It'll be a good movie, but damn it's going to be sad.

One of the most heartbreaking scenes ever put on film.

Gallipoli

Also, I've posted this clip from Band of Brothers before. I don't know if it qualifies as a "scene," but what Wintes says at the end is moving beyond description.

Hey, I mentioned Schindler's List on page 3... . I just couldn't come up with a particular scene, the whole movie was such a downer.

A few more sadly overlooked scenes.

Tombstone - The Death of Doc Holliday

Rocky 3 - Mickey Dies

Also, I couldn't find it, but The Untouchables, when Malone dies.

Saving Private Ryan- When Ryan's mother is looking out the front door as a car drives up. An officer and a priest get out and she drops to her knees on the porch in tears. Sad to imagine that happens.

I believe SPR is one of the most overrated movies, but I completely agree about the quality of that scene. It’s a great scene in that there is no dialogue and you see the long drive and you know the mom is thinking “oh no, one of my sons is dead” when in fact they are all dead save one. A terrific scene.

Some nominations not yet mentioned:
- Brooks’ death scene in Shawshank. Actually, the whole letter is so sad, especially how he is looking for Jake.
- Pretty much every scene in Hotel Rwanda. I cried like a baby when the credits rolled.
- The opening scene of Finding Nemo. Totally took me off guard. Not expecting that.

Nothing compares to the blocked field goal + overtime of the LSU-Bama game.

Here are some I can remember that get me.

Shawshank Redemption when Brooks hangs himself.

Forrest Gump - When Bubba is about to die and says "Forrest, I wanna go home". Then dies. I am always crying my eyes out at that moment.

Dances with Wolves - When Costner and his wife are leaving the tribe, and the indian he made friends with, is at the top of the cliff screaming "Dances With Wolves. I am Wind In His Hair. Do you see that I am your friend? Can you see that you will always be my friend?" Probably my favorite part of the movie. breaks me up.

It's pretty sad when he talks to Jenny at her grave too.

Almost forgot, the end of Dr. Zhivago, when he sees Lara walking down the street and tries to chase after her. Absolutely heartbreaking. Also one of the most beautifully photographed films ever made.

But based on some of the examples given so far, I guess only guys like Freaux will have any idea what I'm talking about.

I used to watch taht growing up as well.

I always thought the chick in that would grow up to be pretty hot. She died in 1997 (at age 22), but I can't find any pics of her grown up.
