Nazis?

Sorry but that's a 50 year old tired foil in movies.

It's like we are perennially stuck in 1945.

Couldn't ruthless Spanish Conquistadors have been lost in the Triangle as they explored the Americas?

Native American warriors...the Seminoles lost in the Triangle on some fishing expedition and are now living on this Island like their civilization isn't destroyed and they are going to fight for it.

Everything reverts back to Nazis despite other modern and historical foes. It's so old and tired and played out man. Get a fresh take Hollywood. It's been done a million times. It's boring now as a tired cliche.

you couldn't have a film that depicts anyone in modern times as a bad group or evil with the SJWs running around. North Korea? nope, can't refer to them as bad. Muslims? nope. Russians? Maybe since the left hates them so bad at the moment.

Ryan Reynold's filmography over the last 10 years minus the Deadpool movies has been suspect.

KInda sounds like stuff from the SyFy channel but because Ryan Reynolds was OMG DEADPOOL then people lose their minds.

Did he direct that? I thought it sucked.

He’s a one trick pony.

But this seems like a situation that suits him well.

The Hitman's Bodyguard was pretty descent and it did 2 1/2 times its budget here and another 100 mil overseas, so it was a good success for him.

Reynolds can be a hot name again with the success of Deadpool, but he has to stop taking shitty roles like Life.

Hopefully with Raimi, this will have a low budget so it can be a success, because no matter how awesome it is, it will still be a niche movie at the box office.

There is a group of people who control a majority of Hollywood. These people are obsessed with Nazis and probably always will be due to past trauma.

Despite everyone's claims of "SJW" or "Hollywood Jewish Control", the answer is WAY simpler.

Market share.

If you want to have a global release, you don't target:
An entire country
An entire religion (that borders on a billion followers)

It's like making China the bad guys. If you're making a movie that you know will get banned there, then go for it. If you want to make MONEY there, then you go for someone else.

It's why Homeland switched gears and became a game vs the Korean combined forces, because the more logical aggressor - China - meant removing the game from a potentially huge market (the fact the game did poorly anyway is irrelevant).

Nazis are safe protagonists, as are aliens, zombies, monsters, etc. In the past, when movies made 95% of their money domestically, Russian villains was fine. We weren't making money in the USSR anyway. China is different in that it is a viable market.

And as always, money is the driving force.

i think of him as very one-off.

Great:
Definitely Maybe
DP 1&2
Safe House
Hitman's Bodyguard
Buried
Proposal

Bad:
Life
Voices
Selfless
green lantern
RIPD
Turbo

i really don't think "oh that was a decent RR movie." i either love them or hate them. and usually it's not entirely his fault. he is a little one dimensional, but he kills that one dimension.
