This is exactly why Disney isnt worried. Disney did not have a contract with Scarlett, Marvel did. And her contract absolutely, iron-clad demanded her go to private arbitration first against Marvel.

But she didnt sue Marvel. Because she claims they didnt break her contract. Shes out there in no mans land. And trying to force Disney to write a check. They are not. Instead they are sending signals to anyone that wants to make billion dollar movies; they will not negotiate with terrorists

She sued Disney because suing Marvel would’ve sent her to arbitration. She’s effectively saying that Disney caused Marvel to breach her contract.

This is a case she’ll lose in court, most likely, but Disney would probably lose, too, even if it “won” the lawsuit. I’m sure both parties will settle this because Disney doesn’t want Disney+ information to come out in discovery, and Scarlett knows she’ll lose or get tossed into arbitration if it moves forward. The only point of going public and filing the suit was to get this out in front of the public for leverage purposes.

Sure the earnings part is speculation. The requirement to only release in theaters is not. Still break of contracf

Then why bring up...

Disney broke Scarlet’s contract and basically took a ton of money from her.

Once again, this is speculation.
Can’t assume a double play.

How DC isn't greenlighting the hell out of a Darkseid-centric Justice League saga right now and signing over a blank check and total creative Control to Zach Snyder is simply beyond me.

Because Zack Snyder's big claim on his Justice League cut is that it wasn't as bad as the original release.

The ultimate problem with DC is that it's a very siloed organization compared to Marvel, especially when it comes to non-animated offerings. What I mean by this is there is no Kevin Feige and/or Jon Favreau, people with a sincere love and deep knowledge of the IP and given enough authority to herd all the cats into a singular, focused, quality path.

The problem is, their movies are only billion dollar movies b/c of talent like the Russos. If you can't get talent on their level, you end up with the DC universe of busts. A perfect example is James Gunn making a solid Suicide Squad movie after DC fricked up TWO of them.

But Gunn’s Suicide film was a bust, financially.
General audiences aren’t buying tickets to see a James Gunn film, or the Russo’s newest outing, they are going to see the new Marvel film. And clearly not going to see any old DC film.
And people who discuss films on message boards aren’t general audiences.

Because they already did that, with spectacular results.

WB screwed themselves. They wanted to be Marvel instead of being DC and look what it got them. Be your own thing and people will reward you. Zach Snyder's Justice League was better than all but a few of Marvel's movies, and I"m not just talking about MCU movies either.

WB thinking they are creative is what's wrong with DC movies. Don't believe me? Here is the list of movies they have interfered with:

Batman vs. Superman
Suicide Squad
Josstice League
Wonder Woman 1984

The ones they haven't:

Man of Steel
Wonder Woman
Shazam
Aquaman
ZS's Justice League
The Suicide Squad

There is a huge disparity in quality from the former compared to the latter.

As for the point of this thread, I completely understand where they are coming from. The Mouse is not hurting for revenue, so stop screwing over your talent. You sign a contract with them, you honor it. Plain and simple.

Disney has nine Marvel movies that went over a billion dollars. The Russos did two. One was actually a single storyline split into 2 parts. Everyone was going to see that finale no matter who directed. So Marvel made the billions, the Russos made it entertaining

Hell, Ryan Coogler made a billion for Marvel, and Shane Black too. Disney knows they hold all the cards, and are some more pissed at BW lawyers. Mostly because its not the first time they tried this tactic, and lost then too. Its all about them making the House of Mouse cut a check

And by Disney cutting ScarJo from all future projects, means they have gone scorched Earth and will not cave at any point

You need to leave those drugs alone.

You couldnt even see 80% of the movie how black it was to even critique it.

That isn't saying much. DC has put out some piss poor products of late (admittedly I haven't seen Shazam, Aquaman, Birds of Prey, or The Suicide Squad) but let's not act like the MCU is some bastion of quality. They're an assembly line of films that follow the same basic premise, that stays true to a simple formula, and thus allows them to be passable films. There is nothing spectacular or groundbreaking about them.

The only comic book movie that truly transcended the genre and ended up being a great film was The Dark Knight.

It’s a really bad look for Disney at large given what WB did for their stars to compensate them.

It’s not that simple, unless you put the streaming movies behind an explicit paywall I’m addition to the subscription.

That's what was done. You pay for Disney+. You pay extra to stream a film day one.
