I used to watch Too big to fail often, but Big Short has taken that ones place. Just a better movie, and gets to the nuts and bolts better than Too Big.

Now ill have to watch Margin Call.
Completely missed that one.

Ugh, that's the best of the bunch. It's absolutely riveting.

Solid movie, but not even half as good as Margin Call

Such a great movie. I’ve seen it many times and love every movement of it. Really well done. We need more movies made in that style.

It doesn’t do enough to show how irresponsible individual people were in signing those mortgages. It takes two to tango. The banks preyed on idiots but they had to have idiots to prey on

That’s why I love this scene from Margin Call

Margin Call is outstanding. Jeremy Irons steals every scene he is in, a perfect casting choice imo

Margin Call is great too, fantastic casting throughout that movie. It is specific to how one firm saw the death of the sub-prime mortgages & how they handled from the inside.

What I love about The Big Short is you get to see it from multiple points of view and they did an amazing job of explaining the complexity with great little break the 4th wall bits.

Exactly what I came to say, in the exact same way.

It does, but the actions on one side were criminal. Simply signing up for bad loans isn’t.

I’m watching it now. It’s boring as hell and I will not watch this again once I’m finished no matter the ending.

I really can’t comprehend how someone could like the Big Short and find Margin Call “boring”. Sorry no quick cuts and 4th wall stuff, just a dialogue driven adult drama

Fun book and movie but it’s basically a side story to what actually caused the crash which was repo failures

I agree about the so-called boring aspect but I think it fits into one is clearly the better overall film but the other is more enjoyable to watch.

For me, The Prestige is a masterpiece but I’m ok admitting I had a better experience watching The Illusionist.

The Big Short is a comedy-drama while Margin Call is straight drama.

Both are good but Big Short is much more rewatchable.

I get what you guys are saying they are different style movies but I disagree that one is more rewatchable.

Like a couple of others on this board I discovered Margin Call by watching Big short clips on YouTube. Several scenes in MC, (the Rocket Scientist, the big meeting (any scene with Jeremy Irons really) the sell off, frick normal people) are all every bit as rewatchable as anything in the Big Short (the pitch and Americas angriest hedge fund are my personal favorites) both are great movies.

Always gets a laugh. Gosling was perfect for that role.

"This is my quant."

"Your what?"

"My quantitative!"

That scene always get laughs as well.
