This movie jumps up higher and higher in my all time favorite movie category every time I watch it. I can’t believe how corrupt our whole US economy is. Such a shockingly entertaining, and rewatchable movie with arguably one of the best crew of actors I’ve ever seen.

One of the things the Big Short does so incredibly well is explaining difficult concepts. The cut scenes with Margot Robbie in a bubble bath and Anthony Bourdain explaining bundling mortgages as akin to fish stew are legitimately genius.

One of my favorite scenes is when Carell finds out the stripper has 5 mortgages. “There’s a bubble!!!” Lol

I think the CDO scene is the best explanation for laymen.

Aw, I remember when Selena Gomez's face looked like that. Whatever mask she's wearing in Murders in the Building needs to be burnt.

Anyone find it interesting and somewhat alarming that dr Burry invested in drinking water?

Inside Job does a fantastic job of explaining the crisis in a more detailed format, but the Big Short is great at how it is able to serve as a mainstream movie for a large audience, when you consider it’s subject.

It’s one of the most impressive feats of filmmaking of the past couple of decades.

The Social Network is also successful with this, but it’s actually easier source material.

It doesn’t do enough to show how irresponsible individual people were in signing those mortgages. It takes two to tango. The banks preyed on idiots but they had to have idiots to prey on.

Don’t be an idiot when somebody is trying to part you from your money.

It used a stripper to represent idiotic middle America. And it showed the two morons who were writing the loans. That was plenty. Anything else would have taken away from the real story.

Look up Gell-Mann amnesia. The Big Short is about markets like Star Trek is about physics.

It was at that moment in that dumb restaurant with that stupid look on his face that Mark Baum realized the whole world economy might collapse

I like the fact that they used a stripper to illustrate this...with her 5 mortgages.

Like idiot College kids in the late 2000s who had 10 Credit Cards and then cried that they weren't responsible for the debt.

Free money, everyone gets a trophy.

Amazing cast and performance. Has become one of my top movies and I don't think any amount of time will lessen it for me either. It could be 2050 and I'll still watch it with the same intensity of knowing the market was fricked

Absolutely LOVE this movie.

When Gosling is in the bathroom yelling “I’m jacked to the tits!” gets me every time.
It’s my go-to when excited.

So many great lines…when Pitt explains to the 2 Colorado boys that they just bet against the American economy and the heaviness hits those guys he just says “I just got really scared” was a perfect line to sum up how narrowly focused they were and weren’t really seeing the whole thing.

I think only Baum & Dr.. Burry saw the whole picture.
