I really enjoyed "Revenge of the Sith". It's the only prequel that can even come close to hanging with the originals. In shear fun, I probably like it better than "A New Hope" even though I recognize Episode IV to be a superior film. I think the vast majority of the criticism for Revenge comes from three sources:

1. Hayden Christianson's awful acting that was even more terrible in Episode II. You just can't take this worthless, whiny, POS seriously, except for, you know, when he decapitates the bad guy like 10 minutes into the movie.

2. Annakin's character arc that took him from basically good to outright massacring children without remorse in like 10 minutes time.

3. The line that basically ruined the movie "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" Seriously? The movie was freakin' awesome up until that cartoonish line that is far more at home in a comic book aimed at 12 year olds or an Austin Powers movie.

If not for those three things, the movie would have been much better.

That's the way the character was written. What more could he have done? You have some pretty awesome actors all giving dud performances in these movies

"anakin was seduced by the dark side" He was tricked...like an idiot. Not only does he flip the switch in a second, but the movies are all about him. The movies were so focused on him that everything else suffered.

Ugh...this. This scene crushed all enthusiasm I had left. So terrible.

ROTS is by far the best of the prequels. It is nowhere near as good as SW and TESB. If one says it is better than ROTJ, I will allow it...I don't agree...but I will allow it.

Troll

ETA: After reading, what a brilliant thread. So much good shite.

When Anakin is marching the troops up the steps is probably the best scene of all the newer ones

disagree, the moment Darth Maul ignited his double-bladed lightsaber. First time I saw it I was like, "OH shite! You done did it now!" That conflict had been coming, you knew it, it was tense, and then that reveal? Awesome. Even though the fight was awful.

Imagine if Palpatine had found an AJ McCarron type instead of the Johnny Football type he got with Anakin. The Jedi would have never returned.

The opening sequence of ROTS is the best ever in a star wars movie hands down.

This is probably one of the top 5 greatest opening images to a film ever. It tells you everything you need to know without saying one damn word. In fact this image is so genius, I suspect that Lucas had nothing to do with it and probably fought against putting it in the film.

As far as opening sequences go. It's perfect. I don't think it is the most impressive visual though. Luke takin a shite would've been better than anything in the prequels

One mistake that TPM made was killing off Darth Maul; would've been a great villain for the next movie over that Grievious crap.

I hope George has a lot less to do with the Abrams films than the prequels.

"Darth Vader" - we should always put this version of the character in quotation marks - because it is not really Darth Vader, just a poser chosen by Lucas to get in the suit. The fact that he convinced JEJ to record the voiceover for that $hit is just the $hitty icing on the $hitty cake.

I literally laughed out loud - after somewhat coming to peace with the fact that our long national nightmare (the prequels) was over, and accepting that, at least the sequence of facts was complete - the Jedi were destroyed, Obi Wan really messed up Anakin and he was wearing the suit - I didn't like it, but there it was. Then he did the "Noooooooo!!!!!"

Literally laughed out loud. At that moment, Lucas was dead to me.
