I just got to the end of the video, and one thing I will disagree with them on is that Star Wars is a limited universe. That there's only one story that can emerge from what exists already, and it's just going to be rehashed over and over again.

Agreed. Rich has been saying this for years, although I don’t think Mike and Jay agree with him on this point. Like for instance why couldn’t you have a much smaller movie take place on Coruscant and make it some sort of coming of age story about some Force Conscious kid making a life for himself? Hell there were hints at the end of TLJ that stuff like that happens, so why not?

I can deal with movies/tv going against where I stand politically as long as the subject matter is worth a shite.

Agreed. Lady Bird probably in my Top 5 for the year, and I strongly disagree with many of its political viewpoints, but it’s well made and self aware. I just don’t see where Rian Johnson could possibly see the horse story that people would be interested in it.

I agree.

For instance, maybe one of my favorite films of 2016 was Capatain Fantastic. But holy smokes, I literally disagree with everything in that film, Viggo's character, what it puts forth, its philosophy. All of it.

But it was a great little movie.

But I also don't think that film is trying to be "universal," as in any attempt to move Star Wars in that direction almost automatically is.

People always talk about heading towards 1984. I think we’re headed for a Brave New World.

That review was spot on as I expected. They echoed the sentiments here that the entire movie felt like one big troll joke parody by Rian Johnson.

They have started organizing days of screaming at the sky already. That will just turn into the minutes of hate in 1984

I think they actually went EASY on the movie because they know Rian is a fan of their show.

To be fair like most of us, they were mostly in a state of shock of what they just saw. Rian Johnson also knows what’s coming down the tubes with a Plinkett Review.

They didn't hate it, didn't love it. It's complicated.

I'm on close to 100% agreement with them.

They got a lot of hate for going easy on TFA so they went overboard shitting on Rogue One. They don't want to piss off the fanboys too much because they want those youtube views.

The most damning thing they said about it is they have no desire to see Episode IX. After TFA, I wanted to run right back into the theater and watch it again; after watching TLJ I thought to myself that I’d at least wait a week if not more to watch Episode IX if it was playing in the theater next door. I think they’re a bit shell shocked by it. That will wear off in 6 months when he posts the Plinkett Review.

Yeah, it’s no contest. He’s by far the easiest of them to offend, like when Rich will say something absurd, Mike and Jay will just laugh while Jack is usually taken aback.
