Off topic, but what are the best movie podcasts out there?

And they make a point I had considered but wasn't sure of. There wasn't a single lightsaber fight in the whole movie.

I like Light Camera Podcast. It's only been around for maybe 2 months so they are still rounding into shape but they are pretty funny dudes and they touch on pretty much all new movies and then will do other discussions about rankings and older movies and movie news

"It's like someone shot John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison all in one night. That's how I feel. Mark David Chapman had a machine gun."

Some other good points:

1. They don't (and I just realized that I don't either) really care what happens with these characters after Episode 8. They could all die, or they could all live, and I wouldn't give a shite. They've done a terrible job of making us care about these characters.

2. Where do you go from here? What's the cliffhanger? What compelling storylines need to be told?

Anyone who thinks people are criticizing this film solely on ultra-conservative, anti-SJW viewpoints needs to watch this review.

They don't mention any of those things and nail why this movie struggled.

Yeah, their review made me realize that TLJ felt like the sequel trilogy ended right then and there.

Exactly. What's the next episode about? Did Rian just not give a shite because he's not directing or writing it?

There were so many questions to answer after ESB. After TLJ, I guess I'm wondering what color lightsaber Rey builds. How the rebellion builds more members.

But Poe isn't celebrated for his character. He's criticized, so I don't really care about him. Chewie was a non factor. Kylo Ren is evil. No questions with him. Rey has no past and I shouldn't ask for one. Rose tells us that self-sacrifice is bad. Finn's storylines - we know for sure - have no purpose. Leia can cheat death but we also know that the actress is dead, so there's no tension there.

I think the trilogy will end with good vs. evil being rendered obsolete. That's the direction it seems to be moving. I think Rian Johnson set up his own trilogy. Kylo and Rey will form some kind of strange, ambiguous alliance and bring peace between the rebellion and the First Order. The galaxy's true enemy - the arms dealers who will be revealed to be some organized force - will be dealt with in his three movies.

Lol I was on a site last night reading through comments and it's hilarious how many people out there are saying it's a great movie because it did everything a Star Wars film isn't supposed to do.

There's a very broad conversation to be had around this concept and its rise in pop culture recently. Probably not for this board, but yeah, politics, philosophy, it's all there and it's very clear with Ren's comments about the past, the tone of the films towards its own history, etc. And this kind of thinking is a problem imo.

I feel like you've solved what they are doing Some new version of the Trade Federation is the problem.
