Took me about an hour to really get into it, but it's a solid movie.I think I came into it looking for a sci-fi nerd type movie and it's not that, once I got over that it really connected with me.

I have cable and the MGM channels, and PHM is still not free yet.

As soon as it is my son and I plan on watching it again (and with my wife this time hopefully).

And I am picking it up on DVD as soon as it’s available. I loved it.

Yes. The book is better than the movie.

i agree it is, but it is an exceptionally faithful adaptation.

one or two characters missing/added, and one person is portrayed in a more friendly light than their book counterpart, but that's about it.

they skip over a plot point about extending Earth's warmth to wait for the mission to complete, but it's half a chapter among other things going on.

I think that the biggest miss was not giving a better introduction to the Beetles. It would’ve made the use of the Beatles song a much bigger moment.

The destruction of Antarctica and the Sahara solar panels would’ve been too huge to do well.

That dude is just retarded. He said he couldn’t understand the plot of LOTR, so it’s no surprise he couldn’t grasp this one.
I opened this thread, saw his post, and was about to type the same thing. LOTR is too complicated, PHM is meh, dude’s got some takes.

Is the book better than the movie? Because I absolutely LOVED the movie.

I have only listened to audiobook. It is top tier, done by Ray Porter (Jack Carr books narrator, lots of others) is in Top 10 all time for me. That is ‘cliche’ or ‘low iq’ per the Reddit crowd, but the entire alien reveal had me IN.

I greatly enjoyed the film and encouraged others to see it. I am happy to admit not many books and film adaptations have had me laugh and cry and just rooting for the characters like this one.
