Is there any question about this being true? It would be weird if it weren't.

It’s not a guarantee that you’ll have a successful summer blockbuster.

It was kinda guaranteed that a Nolan version of the Odyssey would make a billion dollars though. Just like the last Avatar movie was gonna make a billion dollars.
Because Nolan makes great movies. Not sure why people tried to convince themselves this would be any different.
Oppenheimer almost made a billion and doesnt have nearly the same broad appeal as The Odyssey.

How did the baking for Disclosure Day go for Spielberg?

They did some pretty brilliant marketing with the Barbie movie too.
My point still stands that goalposts continue to move to suit the agenda of this movie isn’t any good because it’s been labeled “woke”.

Yeah, i feel like every big movie will be labeled as woke from here on out. The YouTube folks need controversy to generate clicks just like Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless.
The term is meaningless at this point.

Who has ever referred to Apocalypto as racist? Yes, that isn't the point of the OP but no one has ever labeled Mel Gibson a racist for his casting choices. I swear, this meme culture is pure brain rot .
We all know what brought on that label.
Hey, Mel Gibson made a movie with Mayans about Mayans once. That cancels out anything he might say about other groups.
They forgot the most important comparison: Set in mythology vs set in reality. Stupid fricking memes for stupid fricking people.

Liar.

Then it was they won’t make their money back.
Someone said it needs to make $1B to break even. I find that hard to believe, but if that's true then it definitely is possible they won't make their money back.
quote:
Now it’s they left money on the table with their casting choices. Or that the audience was baked in because it’s Nolan.
Both of these sentences are obviously true.

Hmmm...you didn't think this through.

Pretty funny when people prescribe their own cultural/ political leanings to explain why something has failed. Hollywood is failing because all of the other entertainment options out there. You also have to define the very nebulous entity that is called Hollywood. Is this any movie made in Hollywood? Is Netflix considered Hollywood? How about Amazon?
By the way, I do think there are a ridiculous amount of movies who have gone woke, but the competiton for eyeballs on screens of any type is why "Hollywood" is failing.

You can keep telling yourself what I said is false, but that won't make it false. People are rejecting what Hollywood values.
Easy example: Toy Story 5 vs Lightyear. I'm old enough to remember when the woke defense of Lightyear was Toy Story doesn't relate anymore and kids just aren't into it anymore. The success of Toy Story 5 blew that argument away. People rejected both the recasting of Buzz and the nonsensical insertion of lesbians into Lightyear. It's pretty easy to see the difference in results.

So it's still a dumbass argument because Gibson didn't get accused of racism due to casting choices even though he did have a white Jesus
Again, that’s not what the meme is arguing either. Not saying it’s a good meme or not, but if you want to criticize it, at least understand it first.

Maybe Gibson was onto something...

Critiquing Israeli government is not the same as being an anti-Semitic douche

Comparing a Toy Story sequel where all the characters from the previous films are in it and continues the story told in the previous films to some weird spin off that involves none of the previous characters nor takes place in the same universe is stupid as hell
Lightyear didn't fail because of some three second scene it failed because it was a movie nobody asked for or cared for

Whatever you have to tell yourself.

Yep, the numbers speak for themselves.
TikTok/youtube get more screen hours than any movie studio could ever dream of these days. Spend any time around the youth and its glaringly obvious.
Hell all my friends are near 40 and are on tiktok a lot also.
I refuse to download it because it seems like brain rot is encouraged by the algorithm.
I sink time into other pointless shite but at least college football 27 isnt trying to ragebait me ALL the time

It was on the level of your retort. You honestly doubled down on the "Buzz Lightyear isn't relevant to today's kids " nonsense. That is clearly and obviously false. That movie should have easily done as well as Toy Story 5.
