In part due to his constant lateness.

quote:

Production issues — ranging from Johnson’s chronic lateness and lack of professionalism on set to producers’ inexperience — caused costs on the movie co-starring Chris Evans and J.K. Simmons to spiral upwards to a final budget over $250 million, a sum more fitting for a superhero tentpole.

According to more than a dozen insiders directly involved in the project, the “Red One” production was a perfect storm of problems compounded by the inexperience of the film’s lead producer Hiram Garcia and Amazon MGM feature and production executives Julie Rapaport and Glenn Gainor, who are overseeing the project.

quote:

Johnson was late an average of seven to eight hours per day and missed several entire days of production, ballooning costs by at least $50 million according to three insiders who insisted on anonymity for fear of being fired.

“It was a f–king disaster,” said one insider. On days when Johnson didn’t show up at all the production crew was forced to shoot around him, the insiders added.

“Dwayne truly doesn’t give a f–k,” one insider bluntly said.

quote:

On previous films, Johnson has made a habit of peeing in a water bottle to save time, upsetting crew members.

“On set, away from his trailer, if he needs to pee, he doesn’t go to the public bathroom,” said one insider who knows the movie star well. “He pees in a Voss water bottle and his team or a PA has to dispose of it.”

Set to be released this November.

Johnson ain't lazy, he's probably just absurdly over committed to other things. He is seemingly everywhere.

It sounds crazy but he really seemed to be enjoying himself in WWE this last time. Don’t blame him. Dude has more money than generations can spend and wrestling was in his blood from a young age.

Yeah, it really wouldn't surprise me if it was Dwayne Johnson who Rebecca Ferguson was referring to when she was talking about a co-star screaming at her during filming.

despite my misgivings on some of his other proclivities, i've never heard anything but professionalism and being a very good natured person from him. could be something along the lines of Tom Cruise losing his shite on the MI set or some rumors of him being an a-hole on Top Gun.

i'm tempted to think he's just spread himself too thin more than being an a-hole or anything.

Now that the Rock is a Trump supporter he can get away with running up huge budget deficits and having his fans ignore it.

Wasn't the reason Johnson and Vin Diesel didn't get along because Vin was always late and unprofessional? This seems odd that the Rock is accused of it now.

I’d tend to agree.

He has appeared in an insane amount of projects over the years in addition to appearances in WWE, buying the XFL, etc.

He probably needs to start narrowing down what work he takes rather than being parachuted in whenever a franchise needs a shot in the arm (Fast And Furious, Journey To The Center Of The Earth, Jumanji, etc).

This story has come full circle as now I'm seeing tweets with statements from crew members of various Rock projects that say him being late to set on certain days, pushing their production days to 14+ hours, are what qualified them for health insurance with their union.

So he's back to being a man of the people.

So Dwayne gets bashed for making people wait AND also doing what he can to save time when he has to pee.

“On set” can mean being half a mile from the nearest bathroom.
