I think you are looking at this backwards. After seeing Han's face when Ben stabbed him, Han KNEW Ben might kill him and wanted his last look toward Ben to say "no matter how far you go, you are always my son Ben and I will always love you. There is always a chance."

Han's death was precisely meant, by him, to save his son. If Ben stays dark, then his death was meaningless.

That is a great take. I saw it this morning and still trying to process everything but you are right. Very plausible. I'm just skeptical as to whether we get a redemption arc for the guy that killed one of the big 3.

Then again, we got a redemption arc for a mass murderer of children. shite, I don't know.

Palpatine was more powerful than Vader. Vader lost a lot of his ability on Mustafar and its not like Palpatine bothered to really train him anymore. He kept Darth as his apprentice until he could find a truly stronger one and that just so happened to be Luke. Granted, while Luke had more potential than Palpatine, he clearly wasn't above his level in ROTJ.

Y'all really gotta let that go. Snoke is older than Maz. He's not Plagueis.

We find out Ben Solo (aka Kylo) turned and killed the other pupils.

The timeline doesn't add up. Luke has been missing for 20 years. Adam Driver is 30. How could a 10 year old turn on Luke?

Luke may not have been there. You can always tweak it and say that an older pupil turned dark and killed the others and took Ben to Snoke after Ben hid Rey (in any case TAF tells us Luke's pupil was the killer)

Where did you get Luke missing for 20 years?

Luke has not been missing for 20 years. It's around 13 or 14 years.

Actually 13 or 14 is just a guess but it's not 20.

We know Rey is 19
We know she was abandoned at an age of around 5.

We don't know for sure but I would assume that Luke dropped Rey of then went missing. So that would be around 14 years or so.

It still doesn't make since. If it was just 13 years, that means he had 17 years to train Jedi. Luke was trained by Yoda in 6 months. He had to have several reach the title of Jedi Knight in that span yet the opening scroll said Luke is the last Jedi. Han only said the students were killed. Also, del Toro is supposed to be the big bad in the sequel. What role could that possibly be?

Where exactly do you see that at because most speculation has it at 10-15 years max.

I forgot who came out and said it, but they squashed the rumor of BDT playing the villain. Apparently that was a rumor that got started the moment he was cast for no reason. Then again, BDT does look like a Star Wars villain.

I can actually dig the OP's description for the future story involving the Jedi/Dark Side aspect of the story.

Almost equally important though is that they get the B-Plot (i.e., non force related plot) right and equally awesome.

When everyone looks back on the original trilogy, equal to Darth Vader, maybe even greater than him as a memorable character, is only Han Solo. It's because amidst all of this magic force mumbo jumbo, here we had a guy who didn't give a shite about the force and got things done the only way he knew how.

I really hope Poe or Finn become the new Han in that sense. We got to see how badass Poe was as a pilot, but it would just cheapen that for me if he was being guided by the force on all his flights.

I also hope we find out about some sort of espionage for one of those two characters. It was sketchy how Poe got off Jakku, and say he was somehow compromised by Kylo whiled captured, I think it sets up some interesting implications.

I just hope the new Trilogy gets Star Wars in that it's not all about Jedi/Sith all the time.

Didn't you say Mom was cratered(your word I think) because the light was gone from Ben and not due to Han's death?

This is actually where the series has already gone - Kylo isn't considered a Sith, but more of a "Dark Jedi".

"The Supreme Leader believes Ren to be the ideal embodiment of the Force, a focal point of both light and dark side ability."

"But Kylo Ren is no Jedi, nor is he a Sith. He is the archetype of a new generation of dark side users that have emerged to fill the void left by the Sith's demise

Dark Jedi isnt what Kylo is imo.

Technically Dark Jedi are light side force users that don't believe in anything but themselves right? Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that.

And if Kylo is neither Sith nor Jedi, idk who the Snoke is. Could be Plaguise, could be anyone.
