Went to watch and AppleTV is down. Guess I’ll try tomorrow.

Starting my watch this morning, I’m only 30 minutes into E1, but I will comment that it certain doesn’t start slow.

The show is great so far. I watched both episodes and I am locked in.

Rhea Seehorn absolutely kills it and will be winning something

I finished E1 and just starting E2. Didn’t know what to expect, but this wasn’t it. Hit the grounding running IMO and really think I’m going to enjoy.

Dammit. Wife and I just caught up on our shows last night and we were going to watch movies this weekend

What shows would you compare this to?

Apples content is next to none. They have been crushing it this year.

It's just a really good blend of drama, horror, and humor. It's like Severance in the sense that there is a very strange phenomenon going on that you may have never seen before in a show or movie, but by the end of the 2nd episode you are following clearly what is going on and it makes sense in its own weird way.

The show can turn from light hearted to terrifying in a split second. There isn't much humor at first as the world is getting established, but when the bits of humor do start rolling in, that's when I realized how clever the writing is.

There was at least a line in each episode that made me laugh out loud, and I was not expecting that.

Is it as complicated as severance? I don’t need another show where I have to pop a Tylenol afterwards.

No it is not as complicated as severance. I don't feel like it's trying to weave nearly as complicated of a web as severance is.

Just finished E2, I agree with DrSteve’s takes.

It definitely hasn’t been as complicated and cryptic to figure out what’s going on as something like Severance. In fact it pretty much gets to the point(s) quickly. That may change as more is learned, but it’s fairly straightforward right now.

Also, definitely some good humor. A lot of E2 has some really funny moments and dialogue, but also setting up the what now.

Someone said it has some leftovers vibe to it

Can someone confirm? That’s a top 5 show for me

Yes, but not to the degree of crazy, quirky absurdity of The Leftovers - at least not the beginning thus far. And I’m a huge The Leftovers fan as most know. The vibe is there though.

SPOILER ALERT

What’s the countdown? Are aliens coming? They are treating the 11 like kings. I don’t think it’s because they are afraid of their emotions. They could slip around and put a bullet in the back of their head. Something else is going on.
I guess they are essentially the Borg, they just have 11 they can’t assimilate.

SPOILER ALERT
I think we’re going to need a spoiler thread for the show. This is the lead up thread and now show just dropped (2 episodes).

I do have questions on that and some of the timing in general.

That’s cool.

Not really spoilers, but…

Posters were asking about comparisons and I came up with an interesting one after 2 episodes…

Severance meets The Leftovers meets Invasion of the Body Snatcher meets Twilight Zone episode “How to Serve Man” meets The Stepford Wives.

I laughed at that once it got acknowledged. Also the guy in the suit comment from the first episode.

I was trying to find the pattern. In episode 1 it was counting down and I don't think it ever got to zero. Now it's counting up. I'm sure it will all be made clear at some point. I'm reminded of the burned pink stuffed animal in season 2 of breaking bad.

The closest it was shown to zero was 1H remaining, then next shown it jumped to 2D. I’ll have to do a rewatch to confirm, I didn’t have the time to rewind/FF and catch any subtleties.
