I prefer one episode a week honestly. I like having a week to digest and discuss theories here. It brings a level of enjoyment that is unattainable if the whole season is released at once.

She is very plain to me and just not that attractive to me. Just being critical though. I'm a man and would, but that is not a girl I would chase after or put a lot of time into if she showed interest. She probably wouldn't though. I think it was really good casting with her in Pluribus because she definitely gives off those drives a Subaru with a softball bat in the back vibes.

I agree they are dressing her way down in Pluribus. But she looked pretty good in BCS with her suits and pony tails though.

Yes, clearly.

But it's akin to saying Charlize Theron is fugly because she was in Monster.

It's my impression that she keyed on the fact that the dog food bag was the same size and shape. She pulled the bag out before she checked the barcode. And the barcode was clearly different but (I think) it was located in the same place.

The dog food bag and the bag of the unknown substance both had blue strips on their tops.

But then why the amber color when it’s mixed with water?

Feed my dog bone broth from turkeys. It's an amber powder that you then dissolve in liquid and pour over their food. I would assume it's because bone marrow isn't white.

Here is a picture of what bone broth powder looks like:

So for whatever reason, i was convinced the new episode was last night. Late night at work, then the gym. Didn't get home till 10. Took a shower, got into bed, and fired up apple TV only to be devastated.

So it’s people as we thought. Or parts of people.

The whole Vegas poker setup seemed stupid and like wasted time. But I guess it’s just to show they will go all out to cater to the 12. I could also do without huge chunks of the show being in a foreign language with no subtitles.

The John Cena video was hilarious.

We now know that they can’t kill ANYTHING. Plants included. And they harvest food and human bodies for sustenance.

And most of them will starve to death within ten years.

Carol with a rude awakening finding out the other 12 hang out together and don’t include her.

They can’t turn the bakers dozen without consent. That’s a pretty huge piece of information.

Her having to wait for the voicemail message every time she calls sort of cracks me up every time.

The absolute non giving of fricks by the French dude is annoying (and the others as well). I get that it’s only been 12 days and living out your fantasies in Vegas and fricking every chick imaginable would be awesome. But if humanity is literally in jeopardy it seems like you’d at least show some interest at some point.

I can’t figure out what Hispanic storage dude is doing with the radio. Is he just checking all frequencies looking for a signal or message of some kind? I assume so but that seems like a fairly simple explanation for something they’ve shown so much…seems like it’s more important than just that.

Again, more foreign language with no captions or anything. That is super annoying. I almost wondered if I had somehow changed the audio on my Atv+ settings until they finally got back to English.

But at least we now have Carol and Hispanic storage dude moving closer to each other. And they seem like the only ones who actually give a shite about figuring this shite out (and likely fixing it).

I’ll add this new information to the lists in the morning. As slow as this show is, I’m digging it a ton.

My Apple TV had subtitles. Are you pirating? I had subtitles for all the Paraguay scenes.

Subtitle proof... and this is with CC turned off. Only on the foreign language scenes.

WTF, seriously? That sucks.

I may have to rewatch those scenes tonight. And no, not pirating: I'm watching on AppleTV.

Did you also have subtitles for the French part in the casino at the beginning? That part is less important because they were clearly just playing and acting to appease that dude, but the end part seemed more important.

What did I miss with the end conversation in Paraguay?

Updated list of what we know so far. Let me know if you think of anything that I am missing:

What's going on
• The show/scenes are set up by a ticking clock. It either counts down (showing a things from before the event) or ticks up (showing things that took place after it happened).
• Something (aliens? It is referred to as "extraterrestrial technology") has taken over everyone in the world.
• It arrived via a signal from space from 600 light years away. It was discovered 439 days prior to the event and the signal was apparently a viral RNA sequence (which is obviously key since everyone was "infected").
• It apparently was initially transmitted when researchers created the formula in a lab and one got bit by a lab rat and was spread via mouth (i.e. kissing, saliva swabs, etc.). It was perhaps widespread caused chemically somehow via planes/contrails?
• 886 million people died initially when shite went down.
• We don't know their goal yet outside of ensuring that everyone on the planet is attached.
• There are currently 13 known people that were not affected by the takeover.
• Of that baker's dozen, only six speak english. And only Carol and the hispanic radio dude see to give a shite about going against the hive.

The Hive and characteristics
• They are hive-minded and every single person attached acts "as one," including all knowledge.
• The Hive mainly uses Zosia (Pirate Lady) as the main point of contact with Carol (though lots of others also communicate with her). This is partially because she resembles a character Carol created, and also one that Carol is attracted to physically.
• The Hive cannot lie. But they will try to avoid answering things if they feel it is detrimental to the Hive. Or at the very least, they will obfuscate the truth and attempt to change the subject or redirect in order to avoid answering.
• They cannot physically kill/harm or commit violence. This includes humans, animals, even insects. However, they can and will provide services to the 13 that involve dead things (i.e. cooking or preparing meals) if someone else does the killing. The Hive is also vegetarian.
• Their claimed goal is to assimilate everyone on earth, and until that happens with the remaining 13, their sole purpose is to placate them and keep them happy and answer any and all questions and desires of the 13 (except for ones potentially damaging to the Hive itself). This includes providing whatever is requested, regardless of it is harmful (i.e. sexual partners, drugs/heroin, grenades, a nuke, etc.), in order to placate the 13.
• They are strongly affected by what I'll call "negative energy." Especially from Carol (are we sure if she is the only person that has this ability, or if she's just the only one so far who has reacted and achieved that result?). Whether it be anger, hostility, rage, etc., when someone goes off on them if greatly affects the surrounding Hive members both mentally and physically (and even other Hive members not in the vicinity). I.e. when Carol went off on Zosia, she inadvertently killed millions throughout the world.
- They cannot kill ANYTHING that is living, including plants.
- They harvest existing food, food that "dies" on its own (i.e. apples falling out of trees on their own), and dead human bodies (HDP - human derived protein) for sustenance.
- They cannot turn the 13 without accessing their stem cells, and they cannot access the stem cells without consent from the 13.

One thought that came to me: the DNA sequence is an extinction weapon for an alien species that shares the values of the hive mind. They can’t kill anything, and they believe in peace and unity. But we now know that the end result of the virus will be death for humanity if not stopped. Humanity will be blissful and peaceful as it dies out, but it will die out. Which will then let the alien species colonize earth without any conflict.

World building and interesting. Obviously they are continuing to watch Carol. As mentioned, all foreign language bits had subtitles.

I think he is a representation of our base instincts. He seems to be ever so slightly getting bored with the illusion.

He is doing exactly that. Methodically scanning the frequencies to see if he can contact anyone. Obviously it is important to the story and not just a character quirk and it basically put a flashing neon light on 8.613 with the double question marks.

I think we also learned in this episode that they aren't procreating. So, this is an extinction event. Didn't they say around 100,000 people die every day? That is lower than the figure today of 150k-170k. Obviously with no wars or crime it would be lower, but I think that also means we learn they will not procreate. Right now they have a surplus population to maintain the earth but as that population ages and declines I would expect that things will start to decay.

Other questions:

How is Paraguayan storage guy going to cross the Darian Gap without the help of the infected? Driving from Paraguay to Albuquerque in that car is going to be a bit of a task, especially if he is going to have to push start it every time.

If the infected population is trying to survive, which they are as evidenced by their hoarding every possible resource to consume, why wouldn't they take the food resources (human bodies and other food) with them when abandoned Albuquerque? That's a major town full of resources to just let waste.

Also, wouldn't Carol's rage in fact be beneficial to the infected population as a whole? It reduces the consumption of "food" while providing more "food" for the remaining population.

I think an important part of the story is Carol and Paraguay guy would know so much more about what is going on if they would simply ASK the infected questions.

I agree with both assessments. I did think it was a little odd at just how much be balked at Carol moving to Vegas though.

I agree with that. Another thing I have thought of is that instead of extinction, maybe the aliens somehow need the bodies somehow. Like to take over, or as slaves, or somehow "live in" our bodies. The only reason I say that is because it seems like they could've fairly easily wiped out humanity if they wanted to. So they are keeping us alive for SOME purpose.

Also, just because they are not currently procreating doesn't mean they never will. Especially since we now know it isn't sustainable in its current iteration.

Yeah, I assume that's why they went back three full days for him. If we assume he's driving pretty much nonstop then I suspect he will arrive t Carol's house around the same time she does. I just hope that happens next episode and we make some headway with the both of them working together, and that's not the cliffhanger the season ends on (no way, right?).

My guess is that they plan on returning. They just temporarily "need some space."

This is something that always has bothered me. But I am hoping she changes her tune now that Diabate told her about the information he's learned. Like when he told her they can't do anything without consent and she asked how he knew that, he almost condescendingly said "I asked them." So hopefully she will start trying to get them to answer more shite sort of like she did with Zosia and drugging her and whatnot.

I like that, and it lines up with what TD said a bit as well.
