Agree on Kenan.

Out of everyone suggested, he could do the best pulling off the salesman routine Candy’s character had.

There are some movies out there that shouldn't be remade. This is one of them. Just like Ghostbusters with the ladies I won't bother to watch it.

"Overboard" was remade with a rich Mexican. So, they have one big name remake.

And this sounds terrible. Will Smith will be wooden and Hart will be over the top. Plus as some others have said the primes is outdated now. Most of what happened to them could be easily remedied today. I do find that most of the race/gender swap remakes just fall flat. It's a cheap cash grab that lacks the heart the actors put in the originals.

Shouldn't that say, "and all 7,500,000,000 people ON it."

We don't live in the Earth.

Yeah, that bothered me.

'm trying to think of a black actor who can play the wholesome, but kind of a sleezeball (who we ultimately find out is hiding something) role.

Plugging Harbinger Down which was made by the practical effects crew that got screwed by the shite CGI in The Thing Prequel.

If you're old enough, you still think of the original Fly and Thing when the titles are mentioned.

I've seen the originals a dozen times each. Once for the remakes.

I like Kevin Hart's standup, and I don't mind him making his money in films I have no interest in.

But

1. He seems horribly miscast for the John Candy role if they're doing a straight remake and

2. If they're going to change the character so Kevin can play Kevin (all he does...but get your paper, playboy), why sell the movie as a remake of PTA? Why not just...Ride Along 3? Or dare I say "Black Friday" (I want royalties for that title) if they're committed to a Thanksgiving setting?

Craig Robinson would actually be an excellent choice to play the Candy role. Likable sleazy guy you could feel sorry for. And Heart could play the straight man that looses his shite. He has done it fairly well in "The Upside and Get Hard". That might be a movie i would watch. Heart and Smith hell no!

I love the original. I own the original. But oddly enough I’m okay with this.

How interesting would it be if they played against type and had Will Smith be the agent of chaos?
