I wouldn't call Up and Wall-E as Pixar's golden age. Both were very good, but that three picture run that Pixar had with Toy Story 2, Finding Nemo, and Monsters Inc. was amazing. I'm a grown arse and I love the hell out of some Monsters Inc. Bought the blue VHS back in the day too

I apologize.

I should have said......

The next original idea Pixar has will be the first in a long time.

Hold up...Ghostbusters 2? You're hating on some Ghostbusters 2?? It's only one of the greatest sequels of all time. No big deal.

Good God, I hope you're joking.

Their movies are high quality. Up might be my favorite for sentimental reasons, but I think I could watch Ratatouille any day of the week. We own blurays of Wall-E, Ratatouille, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Up, and A Bug's Life. We've had Monsters, Inc. saved on the DVR for the longest, I guess it's about time I get the bluray of that one too.

I have a three year old daughter, but I love these movies just as much as she does.

And screw all y'all. Brave was awesome.

I like Brave just fine, it just feels more like Disney than Pixar. If Wreck It Ralph wasn't released the same year, you wouldn't hear me bitching about it in that way.

Add Toy Story 3 to it, and yeah, I'd say it's their golden age. Those IMO are Pixar's 3 best films.

Nah. I love GB2. You're the first person I've seen who has something bad to say about it actually.

I love Wreck It Ralph too, but I don't reflexively bash Disney like all the cool kids. Disney has, except for some odd stretches here and there, consistently put out good to great animated films for over 50 years.

And I think Wall-E and Up are the two greatest animated films ever made (well, except the Jungle Book...). Really. If that's not Pixar's Golden Age, they never had one (especially when we throw in Toy Story 3). But I was pretty much saying the golden age was their entire output from Toy Story to Up. Now, they have settled in to just being a very good studio instead of absolutely fantastic.

Not sure how anyone can bash GB2.

Never seen Gene Siskel or Roger Ebert?

I would be absolutely shocked if there wasn't a Toy Story 4.

With the shorts that have been put out the past couple of Pixar films involving the Toy Story 3 characters and the great care they put into transitioning the toys from Andy to Bonnie, you can almost book a Toy Story 4.

Up had a spectacular first 15 minutes, but the rest of it was just too painful for me. I like some heartbreak, but frick that was too much.

Wall-e was way too preachy for me. Still a 8.5, but not Pixar's best. Granted, it wasn't A Bug's Life either (meh).

Meh, it was good, but too much "hot and cold" with the painful reality of Ed getting old and never really having that adventure with his wife and the silliness of the talking dogs. Doug was money though.

I just really don't see this. Sure that's among the themes, but really the point of the story was Wall-e and EVE falling in love. They themselves don't give a damn about the themes, aside from love of course.

I can see their product becoming sub par... focus on quality not quantity

I just felt it was too preachy. Two robots can find love but man has become too lazy and robotic to find it? Meh.

Maybe it's just my own problems with the "ghosts" in the machine. IDK. It's also kind of bleak when you realize that's the same city that The Incredibles and Toy Story took place in.
